I would not take a three year old and really didn't think it was fun for anyone. It's overpriced for what you are getting out of it. Maybe you could go to a waterpark or Great america or a children's museum .
Has anyone ever taken a 3 year old to Medieval Times? We were thinking of taking our 12 year old niece, but wondered if our 3 year old son would be okay going as well.
Well, we ended up taking our son to Medieval Times tonight. We decided that he was the type of kid that would already understand about the pretend fighting. He already had a very active imagination and plays pretend a lot. Plus he had been given some foam swords that we all played with him. However, he wasn't really keen on the crowd of people and started crying when the trumpets started playing in the waiting area. We managed to convince them to let us get seated when they allowed people needing special assistance to go in first. This helped him calm down since it wasn't crowded yet and it was quiet. We then explained again what we were gong to see and reassured him that mom and dad were going to be right there the whole time. He was a little weary to start, but by the end he was having a great time. I think one of the problems was that we should have given him a snack beforehand. We had woken him from his nap to get ready to go and left right away. We then forgot to grab the backpack with the snack foods in it! Our son is a picky eater, so all he ate at the place was the garlic bread and the apple pastry. Luckily, we managed to convince our waiter to find us some more garlic bread and we took the rest of the food home. It was after he started eating that he perked up. My niece had a blast though, so it was worth it in the end. Thank you for all your input. I would agree that not all 3 year olds are cut out for going, but we did make it through. It was really expensive, and they made sure to give you many more opportunities to spend even more of your money while you were there. We won't be going back again anytime soon, but maybe when our son is a bit older (if we think he would enjoy it enough to get our money's worth).

I went to Medieval times last year with my friends, and we commented that it was not a place for children - mine was 2.5 at the time, hers were 4 & 5. There was a lot of fighting and more of an adult story line.
What I would look as is how well does he do with loud clanging noise and bright flashing lights. The music is pretty loud also. If none of that bothers him he will probably love the horses, the swords and the bright colors clothes.
I would also consider the cost. If he gets in free or not.

It is very loud. It really isn't a place for kids under 5 or 6. It will instill a sense that fighting is okay. When they are over 5, you can at least reason with them.
I took my 20month old son there and he loved the horses. He did get a bit restless from time to time but that was due to him skipping his nap that day. I think it depends on the kid. Also he was free since he sat in my lap. He enjoyed picking at the food with his hands and we had great seats in the front row.
I wouldn't take my 3 year old to Medieval Times. I would worry that it would be way too loud and violent. From my understanding, there's a lot of fighting, which is not what I want my kid watching for entertainment.
