One of my triplets is on Strattera. Has anyone had any experience with this medication? Any really good luck with it?

What can I do next?

P.,
Hello there, I have worked quite a bit with children who are taking meds like Strattera. I know it does make a great difference in most cases, but it sometimes takes a bit for it to regulate the child so if you are not seeing instant results don't be upset. Also, if it does not work for your child (which does happen) there are others out there that might. The nice thing about meds like this, is that they are not a life time thing. Usually children don't need them after they get a bit older. Hang in there, it will come!

my oldest took strattera for a little over a year after switching from Adderol. After increasing her adderol to an adult dose with little effect we needed something else. The strattera was great but it did take a few weeks for it to kick in but we were able to wean adderol and intoroduce strattera at the same time.
She hasn't been taking it for a few years now. She has been having some bad days with her ability to focus lately. I may talk to her doctor soon about starting it up again.

Hi, P..
My son, at the age of 5, was on Strattera for a few months. He was swithced to a different med. The change in him was profound regarding concentration. His ability to read skyrocketed. Though his appetite dwindled. Because of the weightloss we switched medications.

How long has he been on the medication? Are you seeing any changes now? What has the school commented on with changes after beginning the medication?

Each child may react to a medication differently, thus, anyone who responds will have different stories.
The important aspect is this....is he progressing in school and having good social relationships, as he can (unsure what level of special needs you mean). These two aspects are very important. Good Luck to you!!

Hi P.! Yes, my son has taken strattera for 1 year and we have had great success with it. He takes it for ADHD. The school has seen a remarkable change in his behavior. He started at 18mgs, then 25 and is now on 40. If you have any other questions, let me know.
