Medical Transcription Course

I just want to suggest that you ensure that there is an actual market for medical transcriptionists with no experience in your area. My mom looked into courses and found that NOBODY wants a transcriptionist with less than 2 years experience. If there isn't a market for you, the course is pointless.

My mom also went to school to be a certified medical assistant. Which is only good if you're okay with having $13,000 in student loan debt while making just over minimum wage. She went back to driving school buses and is much happier.

I have worked in the clinical laboratory /anatomical pathology industry and with the implementation of electronic health records, dictation and even iPads to dump the information into the patient's records, I would make sure this is a viable career. Good luck!

I thought of going to school as well until I found out that many doctors are going to voice dictation machines and cutting out the person. If you could possibly do the coding thing that might be better. The best bet is to contact the hospital(s) and see what they are hiring and when. You might be able to get on and then do you own thing later.
