I delivered my first daughter at Presby Plano and was extremely impressed with the facilities. I will be having my second daughter there as well. The rooms are very nice and updated.
Hi...has anyone had a baby at either facility. We are expected our first in October and had our first tour of Medical City Dallas this afternoon. We were a little disappointed with how nice the rooms were (our expectations were based off of their website pics). Does anyone know if Presby Plano is any nicer?
Thanks
Thanks for all the responses! (this is Ashely's husband)
Hear you loud and clear on the care vs niceness. The question was predicated on the fact that, based on everything we've heard/read so far, the care should be great at both locations. Given that, I'd just like to make sure she is as comfortable as possible.
Thanks again!

Hi A.,
A really good friend of mine has had both of her boys at Presby Plano and is actually pregnant with her third. She loves it. I have been there to visit for both births and it's a newer hospital, very nice, up to date and clean. I had my son at Presby Dallas and the only reason I didn't go to Plano was because my Gyno doesn't see patients there.
Hope this helps,
C.
Hi A....I've had both my babies at Medical City and I love that hospital...all my doctors for the whole family are located in Medical City, and I've never had any negative issues there...the last time I was there, my room was great. Medical City is a great hospital...they'll always get my vote.
Good Luck!

Hi! I have delivered two babies at Medical City of Dallas and have been extremely pleased both times. The nurses in labor & delivery, postpartum and the nursery were wonderful with both of my children! I drove from Prosper for my second child, so I felt it was a great hospital to have my kiddos. Best of luck with your decision!
Presby Plano is a beautiful facility and has excellent nursing staff as well as an excellent NICU staff and Pediatricians.
I have 3 children and had them all at Medical City Dallas with the first two being in the NICU where they received top rate care and love. I had absolutely no complaints on my care I received either. Your main concern would be the doctors and I speak very highly of mine. Presby Plano is newer so it will probably be more updated as far as design. I feel sure they have top rate care also. Go with your gut feeling, can't go wrong there. Good luck! :)
I've had two babies at Plano Presby and think the best of the facility. I had one at Trinity in Carrollton and much prefered Plano. Good Luck how exciting. Congratulations.
Definitely dallas here. My best friend had 2 of her children at Plano (was the closest and hated it both times). First time was mostly not the friendliest nurses, second was they were definitely stretched too thin. She had complications and was put on a strict diet after she delivered...They kept forgetting to feed her!! Can you believe that? They would come only after she would complain and she would get all the left overs, all of which she couldnt eat. When she left her mother complained pretty loudly about the situation, since it happened at least 3 times and about a week later she got a gift card to chili's from them, which was nice.
I am a nurse in L&D at an area hospital. My advice to you is to not pick a hopital based on looks alone. When you tour, pay attention to the nurses and see how friendly they are. Ask your doctor which hospital he/she prefers--they know the nurses and know which hospital will treat you better. I agree with a previous poster....choose care over looks.
I had my last son at Medical City of Dallas and was extremely PLEASED. The way the rooms are/were was the least of my worries. It was a high risk pregnancy and was in and out of the hospital due to preterm labor/dehydration/high blood pressure throughout the entire pregnacy.
The Entire Staff was AWESOME. I ended up having an emergency c-section.
I would not base your decision on what the room looks like, just my 2 cents.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

Both of my sons were born at MC Dallas. We discovered my 3 yr old had complications and my then OB moved us there for the NICU. I was terrified since he was my first, but the entire staff was excellent. So when I was pregnant with our 2nd son, there was no question where he was being delivered. All of our doctors, specialists, etc are at MC Dallas (and we live in Lewisviile), but the amazing staff far outweighs the drive, even now with gas prices the way they are. BTW, our 2nd son is 10 weeks old today so I was just there not too long ago and the staff was even better this time!!! Good luck!!!
My aunt had her baby at Presby Plano and she had an AMAZING experience. The rooms are very luxurious and nurses are great. Presby Dallas is the best in my opinion but I will be having my baby at Presby Plano as we live in Frisco.
I had four babies at Presby and they were always wonderful. I now have a son who works there and he tells me the Labor/Delivery nurses are some of the best in the entire area. They receive awards for their level of service and care. This was consistent with my experience also.
Dr. Herzog at Presby is wonderful and a highly intelligent and compassionate physician.
Good luck with your new blessing.
Hi..we had our son at Presby PLano..and it was great! We only had one complaint...the nursing staff seemed to be stretched a little thin..which actually led to some issues with my son's birth. Not sure where you live, but we are in the Canyon Creek area of Richardson & chose to have our daughter at Richardson Regional Medical Center in Nov 07. I will say the experience was completely different being in a small hospital. We LOVED it! There were only 3 babies born the same day as our daughter & they were very attentive....
A.,
I LOVED Medical City Dallas. They are a fantastic L&D facility. The nurses were great both during labor and afterwards, the doctors, the food is really good, and so on. I absolutely will deliver there again and recommend it to all my friends.
I had both my children at Medical City. I LOVED their facility - I thought the rooms were nice and their staff was awesome! They were wonderful and I can't say enough good things about them. My first child had problems and we ended up in an emergency C-Section (Seriously they had to hold him in the birth canal why we readied for surgery) . I also had a IV blow out and they re-inserted it and they never woke me up. I want nurses like that taking care of me.
100% choose care over the niceness of the rooms. Trust me.
Hi A.,
I had my daughter at Presby Plano 4 months ago and have nothing but great things to say. The rooms, doctors and nurses were all great. I highly recommend it!

My son was born in 2002 at Med City, and my daughter was born in 2006 at Presby Plano. I loved the staff at both, but thought the facility at Presby was nicer, prettier, etc.
the care of both me and the kids was fabulous at both!
Hello A.,
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!
I have had two children, one at Prsby PLANO and the other at Medical city Dallas. Presby Plano is much newer and the facilities and rooms are prettier, however my experience with Medical city Dallas was better simply because of my Doctors. I have and excellent OBGYN (Kathryn Waldrep)and she made my experience of having a C-SECTION easy and less painful. I even went home a day early! I know you want a pretty room to look at, but I would really focus on who is caring for you and treating you as opposed to what color of the wall you will be staring at!! Just my thoughts, good luck to you and your family!!
I had both my children at Presby Plano. It is a fantastic hospital. The staff is great, and very attentive. The food is awesome too. It is like ordering room service. You can have it delivered whenever you are ready to eat, not just at set times. Does your OB have privleges at both facilities? Where does your OB feel most comfortable delivering?
My friend has just moved to Arlington from California and she is going to PHOP to deliver her 2nd child because of the great reputation that PHOP has.
Congrats and good luck!!
I had two sets of twins at Medical City. I spent a lot of time there on bedrest. My second set of twins was premature and they spent 2.5 weeks there. The staff was great, the food was terrific considering it was hospital food, and my room was satisfactory - honestly I can't remember it all that well. I have never had a baby at Plano Presby but have heard many good things, so perhaps you just need to choose the one most convenient to you that will work with your OB/GYN. good luck!
My husband was impressed with the fact that Presby Plano had flat screens. I had both my kids there, and it was a great hospital. My dr. was Dr. Grisham, his office is right behind the hospital.
Had both my girls at Medical City, and would highly recommend it. Really, who cares how the room looks? (I thought they were nice in a hospital-esque kind of way...i mean, I wasn't expecting to check into the Four Seasons.) The important thing is the staff (medical city's nurses are FANTASTIC - responsive, helpful) and the facility. I had a friend who gave birth to twins at 28 weeks at Med City, and they have an unbelievably good NICU. While we all hope that everything will go off without a hitch, i'd want to be at a hospital that had the best facility and staff, not the prettiest room decor.
I had my 1st at Plano Presby last year. I had a fantastic experience. Wonderful nurses, new delivery and recovery rooms, and the food was even great. My father-in-law kept trying to steal my food -- yes, seriously! I would recommend it in a second. They did a great job in making this one of the best experiences of my life!
Good Luck!
Im not that familiar with Medical City Dallas, but had both my daughters at Presby Plano, via CC. The older post-delivery rooms are small, and extra 'bed' for hubby is not very comfortable (they put in a new wing a couple of years ago - I havent seen them). But the nursing staff is outstanding, very communicative and helpful, sensitive for how you want to handle your first days with your baby. And the food is wonderful (was rated as one of the best 'restaurants' in Plano! Chef studied with Dean Fearing...). All of our doctors reside at the hospital, so I feel very comfortable there.
Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy! Good luck in your decision.
We had our baby at Plano Presby last year. It was an amazing facility and the staff is great! They had just redone their birthing center a few months before we had Elizabeth. I can't say enough about the hospital, the drs, the nurses, and the administration.
I had 3 kids at Medical City and I thought it was great. My kids are 11, 12 & 14. I think my last one was in the newer rooms. They have excellent infant care - that is where the 2 kids from Egypt had their skulls separated. So you know they have top notch doctors for any emergency if needed.
I had both of my children at Medical City Dallas, and had a great experience. Thr room were nice, and this is pretty recent (my son is 2) and the labor and delivery, and post-partom nurses were phenomanal! They took GREAT care of me both times..I would highly reccomend them. And their security measures a great as well. Good luck!
Hi - I don't know anything about Medical City, but I was on 6 wks. of bedrest at Presby Plano and then my twins were there for a few months in the NICU. I thought the facilities were great, extremely clean, and the nurses were excellent! :) Don't worry about it too much...you'll be so overwhelmed once the baby arrives that you won't care about your room. Best of luck!
I had one baby at Medical City Dallas and two at Presby Plano. Presby Plano is much nicer.
