Medella Pump- Needs a Little Kick....

I used my awesome Medella double electric pump for 10 months with my first child and now i am preparing for my second. I remember as I was finishing up with the last one that it was starting to slow down a little bit.

Is there a way to give it a little boost? Replace a seal or something?

PS- I have gotten all new tubes etc to make sure everything is clean and fresh!

What can I do next?

Call the company& make sure it isn;t on the recall list let then know what experiences you are having they can help you further & send replacement parts if needed

A friend of mine mentioned to me the other day that Medela did have a recall for one of their pumps I think. Something having to do with losing suction or they were shutting off/perhaps slowing down. You might want to look into that on their website, if it is one from the recall they might replace it.

Even if its not from the recall, they might have info on their website on how to fix that problem. Good luck!

Mine is a different brand, but I noticed it was slower too, after a few months. I thought it was because my milk supply was evened out better, and I was never engorged anymore. Perhaps you have the same thing happening & it will be fine. With similar equipment (I had a nebulizer for my middle daughter) there can be a small filter around the air tubes, even inside the machine that may need cleaning.

Medela pumps are single use pumps. They're really not suppose to be used for more than one child or by more than one person. So, it's possible that the pump is just worn out. I have also ready several instances of the Medela pumps having MOLD growing in them! The milk can actually be sucked back into the motor of th pump. Since it's a closed motor, it doesn't have any way to dry out and mold grows all over the motor. Sounds pretty icky to me! Anyway..I've heard several people recommend Ameda pumps as opposed to Medela.
