I have a favorite holliday meatless dish I make. But am getting kind of sick of making it (made is three times this month and ready to move on). So what is your really special meatless entree? I need a new idea. (my stand by is sweat and sour meatless meatballs made with nuts, cheese, egg, and bread crumbs with an apricot BBQ sauce) You can google it, its all over the internet, its delicious, just want to try something different. Thanks.

I should add, this is christmas day meal with Ham, potatoes, green beans, potato rolls, green salad....

So What Happened?

It bakes up in a casserole dish with the sauce and I usually serve it along with traditional holiday fare; green beans, turkey, potatoes. I love to eat it leftover with salad. But one lady off the internet did a new twist on it by serving it over coconut rice on skewers with mango chunks!
Thanks for all the advice. I decided on one that got rave reviews adapted from William Sonomas Seasonal cook book: Wild mushroom and Stilton Gallette. Looks like a real pain in the ass to make, but will work well served with some harry and David I have on hand.

I married into an Italian family, and we have lasagna for Christmas Eve. Most Italian families serve the pasta and meat seperately, so we will have the lasagna with bowls of meatballs, sausage, brachiole, etc. Nice thing is you can prepare it ahead.

Brussels Sprouts.
The Martha Stewart website, has a good EASY tasty recipe.
My family and relatives liked it.
Just omit the prosciutto or bacon.
Use olive oil.
Just look on the Martha website too, because they have LOTS of easy/tasty recipes.

This is not a "main dish" but for some, it is.
Being a veggie dish... and it is hearty.

I like the bean, lentil, or split-pea soup idea. That would go well with (for the omnivores) or without (for the vegetarians) the ham. And, you could make it the day ahead.

Im making my guests a grilled portabello mushroom main dish with scalloped potatoes and asparagus, but only after the spinach walnut salad with pomegranate dressing. Dessert is undecided, either a cheesecake or chocolate pie.
