Maybe Toxic

Who would you call if youfound something very mysteriously gross in your yard?
In this case, it seems like a clear vaseline on the nozzle of our garden hose.
It was not there two days ago. It feels like burning on our skin where it came
in contact. Might want to get it tested somewhere, BUT WHERE AND WHO?
Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

That is funny. We touched it before we saw it.
It is clear and we have to touch the nozzle to turn the water on.
Interestingly, today IS at least 20 plus degrees cooler
than yesterday. Thank you all, especially to Jo, for making me
laugh and gave me a most likely scenario.

It sounds like algae.

I can tell you I get it every once in a while if I leave the hose out when it starts getting cool. Then again I have never rubbed it on my skin, not really sure why you did that.

No seriously why did you do that? Oh, look, slimy stuff, lets rub it on our skin, who does that?

I don't know the type of algae but it also grows in the evaporator hose on my coil.

I suggest that there is no where to call for this unlikely event. I'd just clean it off and forget about it. Use rags or paper towels and throw them away. Even if you do have a rash or some other effect afterwards knowing what it was is not going to help. I know of no place that tests substances for toxicity. And the likelihood of lasting irritation is nil.

The way to deal with toxic substances that cause a burning sensation is to wash the skin. Toxicity taken care of.

Poison control tells you how to deal with a known substance. They cannot help you figure out what a substance is.

Slugs.... leave behind "slime" like that.
Then again, don't know if their slime burns the skin.

Or maybe a Toad???

Both these critters like moisture/water.... standing moisture.
