Maybe Be Tmi--itchy and Burning Around the "Kingdom"

When I have my periods, towards the end, I always get really itchy in and around the Vajay and Clitina area. It doesn't matter if I use tampons or pads, it always itchas really bad afterwards and then if I have sex, it burns like heck. We usually use lube with sex.

Is there anything or product that I can use to help it be non-itchy and burning.
I plan on discussing this with my doctor. I always have something new to share with him every time I go visit.

What can I do next?

This does not seem normal to me. Maybe you've developed an allergy to products? I noticed Whole Foods has some "all natural" no bleach pads and tampons. Maybe you should try something like that.

Do you shave often and possibly have hair growth. Is your skin super sensitive in that area? Aloe vera products are known to soothe anything with the skin, so you may want to try that.

Stop using soap in that area. Shower within a half hour after every time you have sex. Try a different lube, there is a really great one you can find online made from coconut oil that won't compromise condoms and is relatively hypoallergenic. Try a different kind of condoms, if you use them. Watch your diet and see if you are "gorging" on a certain type of food around the time of your period that you might have developed a sensitivity to. Cut down on your sugar intake. Take a sitz bath with 1/3 box of baking soda. DON'T SCRATCH, or you will damage the labial and clitoral hood tissue.
If none of that helps, see your doctor.

I have never heard of this. It does sound like it could be an allergy. Have you tried baths to soothe a little?

I wouldn't put anything there until you've seen your doctor other than cleansing with simple, clean water. No soap, nothing. Just clean rinsing. I'd stick to a pad, and if you know sex is going to hurt then abstain until you get this figured out.

Does it go away a few days later after your period? If so, its probably just a ph balance, or yeast/bateria imbalance, I know I have felt similar things in the past. But, I would certainly talk to your doctor just to be on the safe side. If it doesn't go away, then you really should go see the doc now while it is going on so that they can get an accurate picture.
