I am looking for a maternity insurance plan. Has anyone used these before? It's basically a plan that covers your if you are hospitalized and that includes having a baby. I am just wondering if anyone has used them, who you got it through, and how much money you got. I would love to get it where we could actually make money, but if it only covered the hospital bill, that would be great too. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a disability insurance that covers you 6 weeks pay if vaginal birth and 8 weeks if caesaran. It is a like Aflac but my company has a different company they go through. My first child I only had the disability insurance and I didn't have the top coverage so it really messed things up and we didn't have enough to pay all the bills. I think it has to be in effect 12 months before you conceive. So when we decided to have the 2nd child, I put the disability up to the max and then got the hospital confinement insurance and it pays you when you stay in the hospital for a day or two. I am not sure how they work if you don't have it through a company but you could call around. I also have a cafeteria plan with my employer that I can submit the bills and then pay from what is taken out of my paycheck. You might check to see if your husbands work offers any kind of disability, accident insurance, etc. But like I say you have to have them in effect 12 months or so before they will pay out. Good luck.

you want to be careful. A lot of companies get to you to sign up by saying they have maternity coverage and then dont. I was scammed when I was pregnant w/ my daughter. It was a horrible experience. If you dont have insurance and are eligible consider medicaid. And definitely check out WIC

Hi, I signed up for this supplemental insurance from Aflac and Allstate before I got pregnant with my twins. It was a great experience for us. I can't remember the exact amount, but we received several thousand dollars back. It definately covered the bills. I am planning on signing up again when we decide to have another baby. I don't think that Allstate covers maternity anymore. You'll have to double check. One of my friends who is currently insured gave me her guy's information-- Marty Ferguson, cell: ###-###-####. www.quotemymed.com. Hope that helps. Let me know if you want more information.

Hi G.,
We also signed up for the supplemental/hospitalization insurance through Aflac and Allstate. Our agent was Marty Ferguson (as was the previous posters!)and we were VERY happy with it. I've used this supplemental insurance with both of my pregnancies. With my first we received about $7000.00 back and with my second we received just under $5000.00 if I remember right. The reason we got more for the first was because I had a c-section. The longer you're in the hospital the more money you get paid. I had a v-bac with my 2nd so I was in the hospital a shorter time obviously. It also depends on which plan you sign up for though. With my 2nd we signed up for a smaller plan, therefore less money back. And keep in mind you HAVE to have this BEFORE you get pregnant! You only get paid if you've been signed up for at least 10 months. So give yourself a couple months after you've signed up before you get pregnant so that you'll have a nice cushion.....should you deliver prematurely.
We do have good health insurance that covered most of our bills so this money was a nice little bonus. We will definitely do this again when we are ready for another! Marty's office is located in Sandy. His cell is ###-###-#### and his office is ###-###-####. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me.
Hope this helps.
