My husband wants to do the 10 day master cleanse. Has anyone ever done this cleanse before. I have read some things about it but, I am a true believer in if it sound to good to be true it usually is. What are your thoughts and experiences with the master cleanse? Thanks, any tip for him would be great also.

Hi
I dont mean to be rude, but Gunnar Peterson (personal trainer to celebrities) calls this the "you're an idiot diet". It is hightly dangerous, and any weight loss is temporary at most
Good luck

Did it...hated it...think about it..starving your body? Your body is meant to be nourished...10 days...no nourishment, come on, who would ever think THAT was a good idea???

I few years ago I was in a place that I REALLY NEEDED to cleanse. I was 40 pounds overweight, I was tired all the time, my kids thought I was abit "cranky" I have to disagree of course, I have to say a was down right mean. I didn't know what to do. I tried them all, herbal cleanses, the Master Cleanse, the Wild Rose cleanse, you name it if someone said, "hey try this", I did! How stupid.

My friend came over one day and didn't need to say a word. I hadn't seen her in about 3 months and she looked FANTASTIC!. Shiny hair, glowing skin, beautiful radiant eyes and 20 pounds less. I NEEDED to know what she was doing. She told me to watch this: www.DrSpeaksOut.com.

I did and it changed my life.

That visit was 3 years ago. When I started taking control of my own health I released 42 pounds, started sleeping better, became a much nicer person AND felt like me again. It is over 3 years and I am still at my desired weight, my life is amazing (you see when my friends started to see me getting better, they wanted it too! Hello residual income!!) and I winter in tropical climates. And did I mention that at 40 years old and 42 pounds lighter, i am damn sexy in a swimsuit??!! LOL!

Just like brushing your teeth or oil changing your car you can not just do it once and expect it to be all good. I teach people a better way for life.

Watch the video. Learn a better way. I coach people who want a better way. That is my passion now. Helping families get the health and the financial future they desire. It comes hand in hand. Most people spend their health to gain their wealth then spend their wealth to regain their health...I am changing that, I am teaching people HOW to change their health and their wealth simply and effectively.

Dear T F,

10 days is a bit severe and dangerous. Your hubby could damage a vital organ(s) since while fasting your body canibalizes muscle to get it's protein source.

While training to be a fitness coach we where told never to recommend more then a two day fast which is sufficent. Your hubby should see a doctor and have his vitals checked out prior to attempting such a long fast. Is he doing this for weight loss, because he will have negated the benefits beyond two days because the body slows the metabolism down because it believe there is a famine. If he wants to cleanse his colon, two days fasting is enough and then fresh uncooked fruits and veggies will complete the job, which is the healthy way to go about it.

If your hubby wants to lose weight, I can offer him a free limited membership on-line where he log-ins his exercise daily and get entered to win with all those who exercised that day for a cash prize of anywhere from $300 to $1,000 daily and he'll get me as his fitness coach all at no charge. We do offer a 2 day cleans package if he is interested. Give me a buzz, ###-###-####.

Carpe Diem :^D

My Husband, does occasional "fasting" to cleanse himself.
He does it for like 2 days. But he does take in liquids.
My Husband uses Asian methods for fasting, which he researched, and is healthy.

I guess it depends on the purpose for "cleansing." My husband does not do it for weight loss. But just to cleanse his body now and then.

All the best,
Susan

My husband just tried this. He did lose a LOT of weight, although we don't know how much because when he started he was too heavy for our bathroom scale to register his weight. It hasn't created any changes in his diet, though, and now, two weeks since he's finished, everything is back to the way it was.

I don't know if it was just my husband, but he was hungry the WHOLE time, and it made him VERY cranky. We were watching Cops, he said a female officer would look better with longer hair and I responded that maybe she didn't want the hassle, and this resulted in him screaming at me. So, he's never allowed to do the diet ever again.

I know a lot of people have had great results with it, but I don't personally know anyone for whom those results have lasted. My husband's friend, who introduced him to the diet, yoyos with his weight using this diet.

I would make sure your husband is VERY clear that at the end of the 10 days, he can't just jump back into eating regular food. My husband's anger spiked on the 11th day when it really dawned on him that it was an OJ day, not a real food day. He intellectually had known it, but it didn't really dawn on him till he felt he was "done" and still couldn't eat.

I've done the master cleanse once a year for the last 3 years and it has been a different, yet good experience every time! I've experienced more energy, less congestion (from allergies) and an overall feeling of well being. Here's what to expect:
- to lose about 10 lbs. If eating habits don't change expect to gain it back.
- to experience 'cleansing' effects. Meaning, you might experience headaches, cravings and fatigue. If this is the case, drink more of the lemonade or water. It will eventually pass.
- after it's been said and done, you might feel fantastic and crave raw healthy foods. Or you might want a steak! All are normal just be careful to what you give into.
Here's some tips when doing the cleanse that work for me:
- get the book or read the message boards thoroughly before deciding to do the cleanse. It can answer a lot of questions that may pop up while cleansing
- make sure to have all the exact ingredients before you do the cleanse and that you commit to it all 10 days. Do not deviate from the recipe, the length of time, or any of the processes of the cleanse. Drinking the laxative tea and the salt water flush everyday is the WORST part of the cleanse, however those two functions are the most effective parts of it. Cheating or skipping parts in between will make for an ineffective cleanse and you won't get the results you are expecting.
- wake up a couple hours earlier everyday to allow for extra time to do the salt water flush. Make sure you are close to a toilet. This part is gross, however it's important to know. Don't drink the flush and then start your day.You may not be able to hold it. And what comes out will be a big gush! Nasty! That's why they call it a flush!
-drink the flush as fast as you can in one sitting. The faster you can do it, the faster it will leave your body!
- drink the laxative tea right before you go to bed. This will help prevent you from needing to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
- measure your body and weight before the cleanse and again half way (or everyday) and again at the end. Tracking progress and help keep motivation!
Hope this information helps! If you have any more questions feel free to email me directly!

Good luck!

A friend of mine did it and it seemed wonderful! She shed 10lbs. and looked good quickly.

But, when I asked my doctor about it he gave me this look like I was asking him a stupid question. Apparently, it can have awful side effects in terms of metabolism and colon health. He said essentially you are starving yourself and making you body fight for nutrition by devouring the fat it has stored...YUCK!

Be careful and ask a doctor for advice and the best way to do it. Insteand he recommended a probiotic daily and fiber regularly throughout my day, and a diet plan that helped to equal me out. It's been longer than the 10 days (more like 30), but I feel great.

A lot of it is basic stuff, oatmael and fruit in the morning, protein and veggie in the afternoon and salad for dinner with small protein serving. Healthy snacks like almonds, avacado, yogurt and cheese. Limit sugars and sweet stuff to one day a week.

I'm with you, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

I have done this 3 times in the past 3 years. I did it for the full 10 days the first time and for 8 days the following 2 times. I was very happy with each experience but I know other people who have done it who didn't do as well. For me, it was helpful because for one, I lost 13 pounds (eventually gaining 6 back) but more importantly upon finishing I lost many of my previous cravings. I eat much much healthier for at least the first 4 months after finishing. There is something about accomplishing this goal that makes you not want to fill your body with junk afterwards.

If you do do this, it is imperative that you do not cheat at all, not even a small bite of anything. I can honestly say I never had a headache or felt hungry during these 10 days. The first time around I did get sick on day 4 for about 6 hours. I just felt achy and couldn't really move. I then spoke to the friend who suggested the cleanse and realized I hadn't been drinking any additional water so i began to do so. I felt better almost immediately. For me, I feel great after drinking 8 glasses of the lemonade a day and at least 2-4 glasses of additional water spread throughout the day. I also suggest not doing the saltwater portion and stick to the laxative tea evening and first thing in the morning. I also suggest that before and during you may want to check out posted blogs on the internet regarding the master cleanse to get an idea of what others doing it are experiencing. I read about all sorts of effects that I never experienced but it was a good idea to see what could possibly happen. But again, do not take a bite of any other foods. My friend who did it with me, did that and had a completely different experience and ended up not making the 10 days because it made her feel hungry.

hope this helps.

10 days is a long time. I did this and made it to 3. I was pretty lethargic and came down with a MAJOR MAJOR migraine the second night which lasted until I stopped. I was not functional. There are better ways to cleans> I suggest suggest seeing a nutritionist to figure out what might be best for you.

Master cleanse is not considered safe as it is caustic, the body is being deprived of essential nutrients. The body needs internal balane and nutrient fuel to maintain normal blood glucose levels and the brain rquires high-grade nutrients for sustained mental work. Whole body, cellular cleansing feeds the body with the nutrients it needs and allows the body to do the cleansing it was designed to do.

What is your husband's purpose in wanting to cleanse? I am a nutritional cleanse coach and will be happy to provide him with additional information so he can make an informed decision for his goals and overall health and well being.

if this is the syrup, lemon juice and cayanne pepper cleanse, please be careful. it made my boss sooooo sick, that she literally couldn't move and when you're single and live alone this is not a good situation. i notice that you provide child care and have a small child. being sick while being a mom and child care giver is already difficult, so please make sure you've got your ducks in a row.

i did it a few years ago and lost about 10 pounds in the 6 or 7 days - i think its day 4 that something metabolic happens and made me sick - its best not to be driving on the freeway at this time :) i didnt think it tasted that bad, although the smell of cayanne makes me a little sick ever since. good luck to him!

I have had several friends do the master cleanse. Each one dropped weight rapidly (around 10lbs) and then put back on the weight within a month.
My husband found a system called Core 4. One product is called Flush.... pretty self explanitory... all natural. He got it from www.c4weightloss.com and he has dropped 14 lbs and 3 inches in two months. He loves it.
Hope this helps...
Cheers
