HI all,
Okay, just found out that we are preggie! Saw the hb yesterday and the baby is measuring perfectly (7weeks). We are thrilled. BUT...the u/s tech said she also saw a "mass in the gestational sac" with the baby. She didn't know what it was so she's sending me to a specialist.
Has anyone ever heard of this before?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My appt with the high risk doctor suspects the "mass" is a chorionic bump. They said it was too early to tell if it is going to be harmful to the pregnancy. Sigh. I am scheduled back at the end of January and they will recheck it.
Thank you for all the responses. I hate having anything "weird" going on so your support is VERY much appreciated.

A friend of mine had something like you described in a 5-6 week ultrasound. It ended up being nothing. She has had a fabulous pregnancy and is due at the beginning of February. I hope things go as well for you as they have for her. :) Congratulations!

Wow, some interesting responses. If it does turn out to be nothing, I wonder if the u/s tech got confused, and it was really just the yolk sac.

My sister had a mass/sac in her uterus, so somewhat similar. They felt that she had been pregnant with twins and lost one as she had spotting and bleeding and then what seemed like a normal period. And then carried her 3rd son to full term and now have a healthy happy super boy.

Another friend had a mass which ended up being a benign tumor that grew with the pregnancy and she looked like she was having twins ore more like triplets. The tumor was removed when she delivered. And all were safe and sound in the end.

Whatever it is, try to relax and not worry. Our bodies are miracles and heal in wonderful ways.

I had a friend who had this with two pregnancies and they both absorbed sometime during the pregnancy. I'm glad she is sending you to a specialist. Good luck to you!
