Mark Twain Elementary?

Hi Shanon, My name is A.. I'm sorry to hear your not happy with the performance of your childrens school. I don't know where Mark Twain elementry is, I live in the Indep. school district. Not really heard much about this school, but my mom is a teacher and because of No child left behind all schools have been forced to get up to par. You would be suprised what is standard for kids to have to know before they exit kindergarden. My son started the year not being able to write his name. Now he can not only write his name he can read at a 2nd grade level and write in full sentences. My best advice to u is get involved and keep communication open with his teacher, and ask other parents who the better teachers are and request them

If you are talking about the school right outside sandspings. My daughter went to school there. We had no probs. they were very nice and caring staff.

Since Tulsa has become a "district of choice" I would start applying to all the 4 year old programs at schools that have higher test scores if you aren't comfortable with Mark Twain Elementary's performance.

There has been so much turmoil in the Tulsa district in the last 10 years that it's easy to see why half of the schools are below expected level. I know my Aunt has had to get used to new teachers every year because they just can't perform well enough at such low income levels.

I think the 4 year old program is a great way to get a child who hasn't had a lot of time in preschool into the learning habits. My middle boy really enjoyed it. I'm even putting my youngest into the 3 year old program this year.

My daughter went to Mark Twain and I thought that the school is very good they really think about there childern there. I wish my little one could go but we are out of the distrect. If you want to know more just e-mail me. ____@____.com

If you are talking about Mark Twain Elem. in Oklahoma City. I know the school, I worked there. I heard there was going to be a new principal this coming year. I think that will be a good thing. I left there 2 years ago. If the pre-k teacher is still there she is the best. The two Kindgeragrten teachers are great too. All the teachers there are good.

I still work for OK City public schools and I know that if you are not happy with Mark Twain they are on a list and you may have your children transferred to a school that is not on the list until Mark Twain can get there scores better.
