I sent my dog there for training, boarding and day care and they were great! My dog loved it there. The only reason we stopped going was because we moved so far away from there.

I don't know about mans best friend, but I do know this lady in Carrollton, Traci Murdock, who does boarding and training in home. She's great we use her for all three of our dogs. And her rates are pretty good. Her number is ###-###-####. I highly recommend her, we've been going to her for the past five years.

I don't know anything about Man's Best Friend, but I would like to make you aware of our private kennel in Weston (airconditioned). Lots of room to go in and out and fresh air. We only have one, so book early. You can see availability on website. (if you are only looking for boarding and not training). View it at www.vacationpetnanny.com. You might also consider a pet sitter, who will come to your house, which we also do along with many dependable petsitters.

Many years ago (probably around 1996) we started the group training sessions with our ChowChow. After several sessions, it was recommended that we board him for a couple of weeks. When I went to pick him up after boarding, it was very obvious of a psychological change. He seemed very broken spirited and insecure. I do not know what form of training was given, but I can say that I was sorry that I had put our dog through that. We can only speculate, and possibly it was the fact that they shaved all of his hair off. He was never ever the same. I agree with the suggestion of touring the facility, and observe training methods with other dogs... it was a very sad day when I went to pick him up. We are big fans of Ceasar Milan, The Dog Whisperer on The National Geographic Channel. http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/ We now have three rescue medium to large sized dogs and work with them every day... exercise, discipline, and affection in a calm-assertive way. This has been the most rewarding and successful form of training we have ever done.

It's alright I guess. We kept our dog there until he became to old to board, and when he was too old they just didn't care for him - he was returned in an altered state and they just didn't seem to notice but we sure did (not sure who's to blame there). I would ask for am impromptu tour of the facilities, and if they refuse, that's not a good sign.

Hi K.
We really can high recommend "Man's best friend". We had our lovable lab girl over there around 1 1/2 year ago. Wonderful people & dog lovers, very clean shelters. Even when I was skeptical first to leave our beloved sweet heart there, I'm happy we did. She didn't changed her great sweet caracter, just her behavior. We got some private lessons after we could get our lab back. Of course with the dog. :)
It's not cheap, but if you pay it's for ever free to take more classes (group - lessons).
But, if you have the time to take obidience classes by your self at nights, I can eitherway highly recommend www.centerforcaninesports.com . They are offering obidience in every level and agility. But the dog needs to be obidiend before you can take agility classes. Thats what brought me over there. Maya, the lab, and me we are taking now agility classes. Wonderful. Just check it out.
Wish you the best. E.

They are not that good and have in the past lost peoples pets that were brought there for training. My suggestion would be to find a good training class for your dog and do the training your self. If you are looking for boarding options I am a pet sitter right here in McKinney and would love to earn your business.

With Warm Regards,

Hi K.! Are you looking for the training part more than the boarding? If it's for training, please email me and I'll recommend an excellent dog behaviorist - I would not personally board for training.

My story is not a good one either, but in all fairness it has been more than a dozen years. One of their trainers picked up a dog on a leash by the leash. All four feet off the ground. I've just never considered them since. They could be fine now.

K.,

We had a strange first experience with MBF and never went back - this was in 2007. We always board at Petshotel but they were booked for a holiday weekend, so we went with MBF who had an opening. Our black lab had an exit bath when we were picking him up, and was left in the drying room too long, giving him an awful sneezing, snotting, equivalent of a bad cold. Two vet visits later he was back to his old self. :-(
