Sigh...my "simple and small" birthday party is slowly growing. For my son's sixth birthday we are have a WIld Kratts sleepover. He has invited six kids (we are friends with all the kid's families). I invited moms to stay for a while since it's the first sleepover for many of our little guys. Two of the moms want to stay a while and they need to bring siblings. No problem. I even made the siblings Wild Kratt creature power vests so no one would feel left out. Then last night I learned that my well meaning hubby invited the two older girls from next door over (their younger brother was already invited) to join us for dinner. I don't really have much of a problem with it, since we are so close to our neighbors. I am stuck on the goody bag. The other party goers are getting a vest and a flash light. I have enough flash lights for everyone. These girls are a bit older (8 and 10) and they have never seen WIld Kratts. They would think the vest is "Silly" and If it got used, they would put it on only to appease my son. The vests would never get used again, at least with the boys, I am pretty sure it'll be used for dress up and imaginative play. Any ideas for something "girly" I can throw together for these older girls that would match our theme and not be so different the other kids would be envious? I thought about maybe a necklace or something with a paw print? MAybe a headband made out of the fleece and felt I used on the vests?

What can I do next?

I would give the girls the flashlights and a cute lipgloss. I wouldn't worry about making it match the theme too much, or giving them vests. If you really want a paw print, get some cute paw print stickers and stick them on the top of the lip gloss.

Wow! My sons love Wild Kratts. I have no advice for you though . . . except that I doubt the older girls care about what they get as a party favor. They have to be old enough to realize that they are at a little kid's party. I'd love to see the creature power vests you made. They would have loved something like that for Halloween.

Oh boy! The Kratt Brothers! ((I had to look up wild Kratts to see if it was a spin off from Zaboomafu!))

ALL kids (baring none I have ever met) loooooove flashlights. So you're set there. I'd think animal print headbands or hair scrunchies or slapwraps or barretts would do the trick.

Yes, I know about Wild Kratts - my son is always pretending to put a creature power disc into his baby brother and me! If the girls are just coming for dinner, do they need creature power vests? Maybe everyone can get their vests after dinner is over (and the older girls leave)? Otherwise, both of the girls on the show wear headbands or ponytails.

IF you didn't already see this blog post on another wild kratts bday party you might find it helpful: http://4teamplayers.blogspot.com/2011/06/abrams-6th-birth...

Good luck! C.
