Making Chocolate Covered Oreo Lollipops

I am attempting to make covered oreo lollipops for my daughters birthday. I bought the Wilton candy melts and almond bark and have tried both. I have followed advice from blogs by taking the cookie apart and dipping the stick in the melted product then putting the cookie back together. I let the cookie dry then dipped them. They are falling apart, it is such a mess. Am I doing something wrong?

How can I get these to turn out?

What can I do next?

Ok, so I like to dip Ruffles and Pretzels in Chocolate and I find that using butter with Nestle choc chips is the best method.
I suggest you use the double stuff oreos and instead of taking them apart you should be able to stick the stick in the frosting easier that way. Freeze the oreo cookies BEFORE you dip them, dip them once ... freeze dip again, Freeze and Dip once more if you like for good measure. I like to do Dark choc, White choc, Milk choc, where you can see the gradiation of chocolate but since it is an oreo it could be fun to do dark/milk then white then dark/milk again ALL over it could create a GREAT look after you take a bite! Freezing is going to be a HUGE tool and time consuming I know but WORTH IT!!!

What about freezing them with the stick in them before you dip them?
Is there an oreo mold you can buy?

My last experience with making candy was a nightmare--I feel ya!

How about just forgetting the stick and dip the Oreo's 3/4 of the way and then add some sprinkles (or those sparkely sprinkles) to 1/2 of the dipped part?

Also, are you using the chocolate just on the stick or over the whole white part. You might want to "glue" the entire piece back together and not just at the stick.

We did some of these at Christmas time. I dipped the tip of the stick in the chocolate and then slowly pushed it into the creme center. If you go too fast, the cookies crumble. And when I tried pulling them apart like you mentioned, they had a tendency to pop apart during the dipping. Then we put the tray in the freezer for 10 or 15 minutes. This let the chocolate glue in the middle solidify and made the chocolate stick to the cookie better and it cooled faster. Then we dipped them. Then I added sprinkles. I stuck mine into a styrofoam ball (that I put in a bowl so it wouldn't roll away), and then put the bowl in the refrigerator. (When I laid them flat some of the chocolate seemed to drip off the sides and spread out. Putting them in the styrofoam ball meant any excess dripped down and off the lollipop). Once they were solid them I individually wrapped them to pass out for Christmas. HTH!

I use cream cheese to make it stick together.

I tried these too and made a heck of a mess but afterward I read that you should let them freeze a little prior to dipping the whole cookie. Not sure if that will fix the problem but that is what I would try the next time. BTW they are delicious :)

I love making these. For some reason they are a huge hit (I guess no one can turn down an oreo). I have only used melted chocolate chips though. I hope it turns out! Good luck! =)
