Sounds like the White on Black setting my son discovered on the iPhone. Go to System preferences, universal access... This is a vision support function you should be able to turn off, and is clearly doing something with VoiceOver
I have a MacBook Pro, and I'm always keeping it away from my two year old daughter (for obvious reasons... she's two). I need it for school and for work. Obviously, I can use it, because I'm using it to type this, but it is all messed up and it's extremely annoying. I felt bad for always telling my daughter "no", so this one time, I thought, "oh, what can she possibly do to it by just pressing a few buttons?". She likes to be like mommy, and she likes to do everything I do, so I figured it would be ok for a minute. So, I ran upstairs to get her a drink, and by the time I got back downstairs........
Whatever she did is affecting EVERYTHING from my desktop (and all of its contents) to every window I open online. My desktop photo is of my daughter, and it looks like a negative. Everything is glowey looking, and nothing has color in any of the photo images. This includes all the photos and advertisements online. My mamapedia web page, for example, is all black except for the words, which are white. Up top, the header is Orange and Q&A is in black and so is Timeline. My city, state is another color of orange and the link (change) looks yellow/orange.
I can't scroll down on a page after it loads, because it keeps shooting me back to the top. There is also a little box in the bottom left of my screen that is narrating everything I do to me in text and with a voice. It is so annoying. I muted it to help with that. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me if you know what she did. I cannot figure it out! At first, it kept saying something about HTML....
I'm so bummed about this :(
Yes, I restarted the computer.

Glad it is fixed...
Now that it is back in working order... make sure little hands don't get to it!!
IDEA for a Christmas present for your daughter can be her own laptop!
We got my now 17 yr old a V-Tech laptop when she was 2 because she liked to be like her dad. She toted that thing around for years and it still works! It had fun educational games on it.
You could also let her use an old laptop you have on hand as well. We did that too.
Go through your settings. I have Mountain Lion OS. Text to speech is under Dictation & Speech. Scrolling is under General. The inverted colors is under Accessibility.
Did you restart the computer?
