You may try an ENT doctor. I found out that the constant lump in my throat is really a problem with my tonsills and they need to be removed one day.
Hello. Anyone know of a good doctor to help me with my acid reflux. I have had this lump in my throat feeling for 5 months and the Aciphex, Nexxium, Prevacid, and Prilosec don't seem to be working. I am miserable. Thank you. Y.

Y.,
1. Do a search on www.mercola.com for ideas on what to do to help it. For example, probiotics have been proven to help tremendously.
2. Have yourself tested for gluten intolerance through www.enterolab.com. This could be a reason for a destroyed gut and the imbalance of good and bad bacteria in your system.
Good luck!
Hello! This helps some! Fish oil, 1000 mgs. several times a day, no nuts and no fried foods, fast foods, no sugar soda drinks,or oil. Ester C vitamin , be in bed by 10 so that hormones are not disrupted, do not sit for long periods of time or if you have to sit a lot, get up a lot.
Also, try googling natural preventions for this.
Blessings and hope that you feel better soon! Merry Christmas!
SIncerely,
C. Nelson
Bach's Rescue Remedy and Swedish Bitters, both available at Whole Foods and other health food stores, helped my daughter a lot with her acid reflux. All the advice about diet and sleeping with your head slightly elevated are excellent and do make a difference.
Remember, we are what we eat!
Good luck and don't get too down in the dumps. Taking care of 3 kids is a full time job. Be sure to allow yourself some privacy and quiet time every day, even if it's only 10 minutes. It really does help.

Have you had a doctor physical check your thyroid to make sure you don't have nodules? Thyroid nodules (usually as a result of autoimmune thyroid disease) can cause the lump in the throat feeling AND untreated thyroid disease can be a contributor to reflux. As well, you should get tested for celiac/gluten intolerance:
www.enterolab.com
Reflux is a symptom of celiac/gluten intolerance. With celiac, the GI tract is damaged, thus there are alot of normal functions that are impacted and reflux is very common.
Y.,
I urge you to go to Vasquez Family Chiropractic. They are not your ordinary practice. Dr. Rob explains all that he does and gives you x-rays to show you what is going on in your body. He is not just for back or neck problems although your spine out of alignment can be causing your symptoms. Please give them a call. Even if you are skeptical
make an appointment get an assessment and just hear what they have to say. It is life saving and important. I was blown away by the information and x-rays. It is so worth the time and effort to get the consoltation. Here is the number. ###-###-####. If they do not answer please leave a message and they will get back to you promptly. Also if you live far away, he has other doctors he works with that practice the same as him. Good Luck. E. F.
Y.,
I also have acid reflux quite badly. My doctor is Dr. Haley, located on Mayhill road in Denton. I have also heard that there is a new gastrointestinal doctor, Dr. Quan. Here are some things that help if you do have acid reflux. Do not eat spicy foods, greasy foods, acidic foods, liquor or a lot of caffeinated drinks. It also helps if you eat 6 smaller meals a day as opposed to 4 and sleep on a chesse wedge pillow at night to prevent the acid from creeping up into your esaphogus at night. You may want to try acidophilus it is an over the counter medicine. Hope maybe some of these things could help.
Y.,
I read a great article the other day about taking probiotics to help reduce acid reflux. It wouldn't hurt to take some extra supplements! I'm sure you could find some more info on the web about them. Good luck!

I use to have sever reflux. I could not find any medicine that would help. I lost weight, I had my bed elevated and I watched what I ate and was still miserable. My Gastrointerologist is Timothy Ritter at Baylor Grapevine. He performed a surgery to repair the valve at the top of my stomach. I suffered with Sever Reflux (Baretts Esophagus)for more than 10 years and then had the procedure done 3 years ago and have not had 1 problem since then. I can eat anything and go straight to bed and not have 1 problem. I would suggest you contact a Gastrointerologist and discuss the surgery if your thyroid is fine. I hope this helps.
Hi Y.,
Have you tried digestive enzymes? I am a chiropractor and I have worked with nutrition and adjustments to get of acid reflux. By using Applied Kinesiology, aka muscle testing, we can determine what your body is lacking and prescribe the best nutritional supplement to help correct your condition. Also, the nerves that supply your digestive tract come out of your spine. If we adjust the areas of the spine that correlate with the digestive tract it can allow those organs to function more optimally. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to go to my website at sullivanchiropractic.com or call me at ###-###-####. Dr. Sandra S.
Y., I don't know where you are located. However, I am an RN in Dallas and used to work with A LOT of GI doctors at Baylor University Medical Center. I am happy to refer you......I really like Greg Hodges, but if you are looking for a female physician I like Angela Carrollo. Feel free to email me if you have more questions: ____@____.com
I go to Dr. Tarnasky. He's a far drive but a good doctor. He's at Methodist - but was referred to me by a friend. He's very thorough.
