Lots of Tiles...any Thoughts on Where to Donate???

When remodeling our house, we purchased a TON of really cool tiles for our master/guest/kids baths and mudroom floor. There have to be 50 different tiles in grays, creams, browns, blacks....mostly porcelain with varied textures. Anyone have any good ideas on where we can donate them? I am thinking of an art school? I will freecycle them if no one has a better idea. :) I would love to have them picked up b/c they probly weigh over a couple hundred pounds. BTW...they are from a ton of different tiling companies or I would take them to a showroom.

What can I do next?

The ArtReach division of Lillstreet Art Center is a non-profit art program that does mosaics (and other arts) in Chicago public schools, senior centers, etc.. They would love a donation of tile! www.artreachatlillstreet.org

There's also the Chicago Mosaic School, but I don't know if they'd need indoor porcelain tile.

Look into donating them to the Rebuilding Exchange. They just moved locations and are at 2160 N. Ashland. They are a great resource for remodeling and are doing a terrific job diverting excess building materials from the landfill.

Habitat for Humanity uses building materials, if there are enough to do a small area.

But before you donate to anyone, keep several of each type, because you may need them in the future to replace cracked tiles.
