What have moms that are nursing done to lose weight? I know that you have to be careful of your supply and I am wondering what would be the best way to go about this. Thanks for the help.

What can I do next?

I am nursing my daughter and have dropped a considerable amount of weight since she was born in early December. Honestly though I don't do much. We try to eat healthy foods (I very rarely, as in once a month) fry anything. I try to eat a lot of veggies and salad & drink tons of water. I don't really restrict my portions though...if I'm hungry I eat. Also, almost every day that it is warm enough I go for a walk. I take my dog, my two year old son, and my 4 month old daughter and we walk at least a block; though usually I try for 2 or 3 blocks (depends on how my son is feeling). he big thing with the walk is that I put my daughter in a maya wrap & carry her; the bigger she gets the better my workout! Most D. I also try to fit in around 3/4 of a mile on our eliptical machine. We got ours for around $80 dollars from WalMart.com. It's nothing fancy but it gets the job done.
Sorry this turned so long...best wishes on loosing the weight.

Make sure you are eating protein (eggs, meat, cheese) to sustain the amount of energy you are using to nurse. Try to cut down on sugars and carbs. I am still breastfeeding one of my 10 month old twins and am still under my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost 38 lbs after the twins (only gained 20 with them) but I must admit that i have gained some of my weight back since i have been back to work.

Weight Watchers worked great for me. Plenty to eat but structure to help you lose weight without endangering your supply.

Nursing alone burns many calories during each feeding/pumping session. You can also walk or do low impact work outs. Also eating healthy always helps! All of these things worked for me.

All I did was walked and lifted light weights (3-4 times a week)but I ate whatever I wanted to keep my calories up. I got back down to my pre-pregnancy weight by 4 months. And, now at 6 months, I have stopped nursing and I started cutting my calories. I am still losing weight.
