i know it's normal to lose your hair after you have a baby, this is my 3rd and it has happened every time, but my question is, do any of you know of anything you can take or do to stop it? my hair is falling out by the handful and is so depressing! thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I used Arbonne Intelligence Hair Care, Shampoo,Conditioner and Thermal Fusion Hair and Scalp Revitalizer. All of Arbonne's products are bontanically based and are very safe and last a long time. My husband, me and my son all used the Shampoo and Conditioner and it lasted us 6 months you dont have to use much at all. Here's the website for the haircare. https://www.arbonne.com/shop_online/showCatalog.asp?categ...

Mine did the same thing; the only thing I can think that made it do that was the fact I took pre-natal vitamins which are soooo good for your hair and that made it grow. After I had my daughter, I stopped taking the vitamins, and in turn my hair essentially 'caught up' with its normal growth pattern. So I would think if you went back to taking the pre-natals it would grow back.

My hair fell out, too. And my heart started having irregular beats. So I had my thyroid checked and it was a little out of range, which is normal after childbirth. Within 8-10 months after she was born it was back to normal though. Don't worry, you won't lose enough for anybody to notice!

I too had this happen. I went to my doctor who said it is just part of pregnancy and nothing can really be done about it. She did tell me to keep taking my prenatal vitamins so that when it did grow back, it would grow back healthy and shiny. Then she referred me to her hair dresser who gave me an AMAZING cut that covered up the fact I was sporting a receding hairline that would worry any man. So splurge on a really great hairstyle and know that it will eventually grow back.

I also have the same problem and can't find a solution! I have 3 children as well and it happened every time. If you find something that works, let me know.

I did some research on it because it happened to me too. It has nothing to do with vitamins. Of course eating well and taking vitamins helps it grow back. BUT, It is because when you are pregnant, due to certain hormones released, it causes your hair to all stay in the growth stage (which is not normal, usually some are in the growth stage and some fall out). Then, after your baby is around 3 months old those hormones that caused your hair to all stay in the growth stage are pretty much gone, and ALL the hair you were supposed to loose over 9 months you loose in 2-3 months. This is what I found out after doing a lot of research. Eventually your hair will go back to the regular growth pattern. Of course eating well and taking vitamins helps it grow back healthy.

pre-natal vitamins are like miracle grow for your hair and fingernails and is highly recommended to stay on them after your baby is born.... but you should know that what really causes hair loss is a lack of protein and iron.... try to increase your protein intake (smoothies, protein shakes, or just old-fashioned fish or red meat should help) Talk to your MD about it though...he may want to do some blood work or he may just tell you what you already know... All the best!!

My hair fell out by the handfulls after my son was born. I used Nioxin. There is a shampoo, conditioner, and a scalp treatment. Just be careful not to let the scalp treatment drip onto your face or shoulders because you will start to grow hair in those places. I hope this helps you.
