Loose Stool

Ok i need some help. My 2 year old has been having loose stools since Sunday. At first I thought it was maybe a bug, but she has no fever, she is eating, sleeping and playing. She has energy and is happy, but every day she has had at least one or two really loose stools. She is potty trained, but she has not been able to make it to the toilet on time when she has to go poop.
I am concerned about what this could be, any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
Thanks

What can I do next?

Evaluate her dairy consumption - that can cause that problem in sensitive kids. Also, you might consider that she's developing celiac or gluten intolerance - the symptoms like that appear long before the end stage disease that would impact her overall. Also, loose stools are the body's way of detoxifying, so it's possible she ate something that was bad, etc. If it last more than a few more days (AND the stools are very frequent), you do need to get her to the doctor.

Use the BRAT diet for the next two days and I bet the problem gets better or goes away. Bananas-Rice-Applesauce-Toast

Good luck!

My son is going through the same thing right now. (I have had to get out the carpet cleaner about three times this past week.) My sister is a pediatrician and she said it is probably just a rotavirus. As with all virus' there's not much you can do till it runs it's course. I asked about over the counter meds, like Amodium, but she said they aren't safe for young kids. All we can do is feed them the BRAT diet, keep doing a lot of laundry, and do your best to prevent "diaper rash". Hopefully both our kids will "dry up" soon.

We did the same thing. Ran all sorts of tests. All he needed was probiotics to get some good bacteria back in his system. I got them at the health food store for 3.00.

We are in the Abilene area and there is a bug going around that is just what you are talking about. My son and I both had it for over a week. He's 5 and has been potty trained for YEARS and would go through 3-4 pairs of underwear a day from not realizing what was coming until it was too late!

After the first several days, I finally got some Immodium (sp?) and it worked for a day or two and I had to give him a bit more, but now we are fine (several days later).

I would call her doc and see what she can have. It's gone on long enough that you can safely give her something to help stop it.

Best of Luck and God Bless!
