I know of several people that are on food coops but not in the area that I live so I want to know if anybody is associated with a food coop in the Highland Village, Lantana, Flower Mound area? If so, how can I sign up for it and what types of food do they offer (IE: fruits/veggies, meats, etc)

You could check with Your Health Source and Azure Standard. I know they serve the Keller Area, but I'm not sure about your location. There's a new co-op in Roanoke called Mansion Farms. Also, check out localharvest.org for other possibilities. Good luck!

Go to www.yourhealthsource.org This is a great organic produce co-op and they have lots of sites across the metroplex. They have a variety of fruits and veggies at each pick-ups. The food is pre-determined and you either pick-up on Tuesdays or Saturdays every other week. Check out the site and there is contact for more information.

Try Bountiful Baskets. I like them because there isn't a huge buy-in ($3) and you don't have to get it every time if you don't want to. I pick up in Grapevine, but I believe they do Plano, Richardson, and a couple other DFW area locations. We've been very happy with them.

ETA:
I checked the site, they do Frisco, Grapevine, Lewisville, McKinney, & Midland. It's only $15 per order and it's several pounds of fruit and veggies.

When I lived in Keller I was in a the your health source co-op that Gretchen recommends. I LOVED it!! Someone in my neighborhood was a "host" and we just had to pick up our box of produce every other Saturday. I think you can even start your own through this organization if there is not one close by. It had all organic fruits and vegetables. Sometimes we would get information about meat too. Good luck!
