I had better luck giving stuff away on craigslist than I did on freecycle for some reason. I think it reaches a wider audience.
I have a stove from the mid-50's that I couldn't bear to get rid of during a kitchen remodel. It's in beautiful condition and would like to find it a good home. It was orginally a wedding present to my mom and dad. Any ideas?
Thanks!

If it still works, donate it to a soup kitchen, or a residence that helps out an array of people. A school is also a great place to donate them - a small one. You can also get a small tax deduction if you choose to do that or call your local Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul.
Retro kitchen look is also a big deal to homeowners and remodelers so you can also advertise for free on Craig's List or your local paper. Just be careful, there are lots of unsavory people who will respond to your ad for nefarious reasons - sorry to be so negative. If you know of any carpenter or contractor, you can also ask them.
FYI, if you do have one of those retro looking stoves, you may want to consider pricing one out so you know the value when you donate and get a receipt for a tax deduction. Obviously, you'd need to subtract depreciation from it. :) Good luck! I wish I found one when I remodeled my kitchen - I looked at one & it cost $9,000!!!

Post it on freecycle - on online message board of people giving things away. Things they want to find a home for rather than throwing away. www.freecycle.org
Your stove may have some real value. We bought a vintage O'Keefe and Merritt off of Craigslist for our kitchen and we love it. I've had other vintage stoves in rentals over the years- a couple of Wedgewoods, and they're terrific.
Honestly our O'Keefe and Merritt would would have cost a lot more if it had been in better shape. We paid $400 and felt it was a great deal. Google up Vintage Stoves and you'll find that there are some dealers in CA. Maybe they'll want to purchase your stove. At any rate check out Craigslist to get an idea of what your stove may be worth.
If you're into antiques you might find a use for it somewhere else in the house- I've seen in restaurants where they're used in the entry and it can be really cute. At any rate be sure you have a nice photo of it- sometimes that makes it easier to part with something special that you just don't have room for.
Does it happen to have a double oven? I would be interested if so... Please email back to me. Thanks
