My friend and I are hoping to take a relaxing trip Memorial Day weekend (and leave the husbands with the kids!). Neither of us has any strong preference as to where we should go. A few ideas that have come up: Sedona, AZ; New York City; Napa or Sonoma Valley. Can someone make some good hotel/resort/spa recommendations for these locations? Maybe you've been somewhere else and could recommend that location? Thank you!

You are one lucky lady! ! ! Sedona, AZ is, in my opinion, the most beautiful town/location in our nation. I have been to roughly 46 states so I can say that with a large first hand knowledge base(again, my opinion). I have never been fortunate enough to stay at a nice resort or spa. Usually when I went it was camping or staying in the cheapest hotel I could find. I used to live in Prescott, AZ so I frequented Sedona. It's only an 1.5 hrs. drive away. Enjoy yourself wherever you go!
My best friend and I went to Sedona last year right around this time. It was beautiful! We stayed at the Hilton Resort and also had a "spa day". The hotel was really nice, but kind of worn out, if you look closely. The spa was very nice, they had this great cucumber water. If I went back, I think I would look for a differnt spa and different hotel. I think the Hilton was probably the most reasonably priced. Also, it is farther to get to downtown Sedona than we expected, because the road is a two lane, very windy road. You may want to stay in Scottsdale instead, there is more happening there (shops, restaurants, spas), and maybe just do a day trip to Sedona.
the JW Marriott in Phoenix is GREAT! LOVE IT! Check it out....
I've never been to Mertle Beach, but we looked into going over Spring Break. Southwest was offering $18 tickets each way and hotel resorts on the beach were as cheap as $30 per night. I don't know if it is still that cheap, but worth looking into.
If you are open to an international but close destination, I would like to suggest the Yucatan region in Mexico. It is the most peaceful region and its capital city of Merida is known for its European style architecture and Mayan traditions. Please visit: www.mexicachica.com
