Hi-
We vacation every summer in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Its about 3 hrs from the Hartford area. Great beaches, pier..small amusement park and water parks..love it every year!
I am looking for vacation ideas here in the NE area. I live in CT, we are looking for ideas on where to go with a 6 year old and a 4 year old. I am not willing to go somewhere that costs $300/night - so I want frugle ideas, but fun.
Thanks!

You may want to look into visiting Storyland in New Hampshire. There are alot of motels/hotels that are reasonably priced in the area, as well as other attractions that are also within a relatively short distance, ie Santa's Land. We took our three kids there last year, 2 girls, one boy, ages 10,5,and 3 and we all had a great time.

There are many children's museums, etc that have collaborative memberships, so you could get a membership to one close to your house and do a 'Museum hopping" trip. Then you would have a year's worth of visits to whichever one is close to your home. For example, Kid's City in Middletown also allows you to go to the Boston Children's museum and others.
There is also Mystic Aquarium, which has some other reciprocal venues in the area.
If you are going in the summer, an inexpensive hotel by a beach works too. The kids just want to spend time with you and have the ability to make their own fun wherever they are.

Hi! I live in CT too and though I have not been there, I have heard great things about the Great Adventure indoor water park in Lake George NY. I have friends who have gone and they Love it!
