I have found that www.whofish.org is a great website for weekly area events, you can sign up for automatic email too.
Davis Farm in Sterling, Children's Discovery Museum in Acton are two great places in the area.
Have fun! A.
Hello,
I am looking for kid friendly things to do in and around Marlborough (I would also be interested around the area as well, ie framingham, sudbury, southborough etc). I am have not been able to find a good source to find out what is going on in and around the area for kids. I did find the Marlborough Library childrens room events calendar, that is helpful although most of the events listed are for weekdays. I work full time and I am looking for some things to do during the weekends and possible weeknights. any suggestions or help is appreciated. thanks

Here are a few sites that have good local calendar listings:
www.whofish.org
www.baystateparent.com
www.bostoncentral.com/events/upcoming.php
http://momsevents.boston.com (____@____.com)
http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com/region/boston-ma-usa
www.visit-massachusetts.com/events.html

Good to check out your local libraries, farms, etc. too. Also, the Solomon Pond Mall & Natick Collection both have lots of kids' events.
Have fun!
There's Noodle, Noggin 'n Bean in Northborough - it can be pricey if you go a lot, but for a random thing, it's not too bad. There are a lot of different rooms (music, art, water, doctor's office, store, etc.)

Also there's Trombetta Farm in Marlborough, which has mini golf and a craft shop where the kids can paint wooden shapes or make little wooden .. um... things.

Framingham has Whimsy, which is pricey, too, but fun. It's across Route 9 from the Whole Foods.
I hope this helps!
PS - If you have a rather thin child, you should know that the Atkinson pool is quite cold. My daughter couldn't even make it through a swim class there.
The Atkinson Pool in Sudbury has a drop in tiny tot swim on Sunday that's $4. I don't know the schedule of classes, but you can check out mygym (framingham near Edgell Road) or planet gymnastics (Natick behind the Xmas tree shops). There's always the natick mall playspace. There's the Sudbury family network, although I'm not sure if you have to be a Sudbury resident to join. Finally, there's the Framingham YMCA, which might have stuff for young ones on the weekends too.
I agree that Boston Central is a great resource, their weekly email lists things for all ages and interests, in and around boston. We take the kids (19 mo and 6 mo) to Drumlin Farms on 117 in Lincoln, my son loves the animals and playing in the gardens.
Hi H.,
Here's one source you may find helpful, you can receive weekly email updates for local events taking place.

A great thing to do on weekends is go to various elementary schools and use the playgrounds. Lots of parking, and it's free! If you don't mind driving to Northboro, there is a public playground at the intersection of Routes 20 and 135. There is another large playground and open fields/picnic area about a mile south on 135. I think it's called Ellsworth-McAfee Park. Your son is a little young for some of the stuff, but it's good to know about for future reference. I live in Westboro and always enjoyed taking my son to the Hastings Elementary School playground - I think there are 2 - on Route 30 just west of Route 9. There is another play area at the very end of the road that leads to the Senior Center - just past the school, a little further west on Route 30. If you take Route 30 even further west and loop around the Westboro rotary, and then take Route 135 east for about a half mile, you'll see a sign & flag on the left for Harvey's Farm & Garden Center. They have a few cages with rabbits, and then if you cross the little covered bridge, you'll see a pen with goats, a pig, various fowl, and so on. There are also a lot of interesting ducks in the pond. They sell 2 types of food in the store for $1 a bag - some of it floats and is for the ducks, the rest is for all the other animals. Might be fun for a little one to see the critters! There's no cost to go and look, there's just a cost for the food. Hope this helps.
Check out Assabet Valley Family Network. Its in the Boys and Girls Club Building in Marlborough, although not associated with them. Great place and resoure!
Playtown Express on South St in Hopkinton is a fun indoor playground. $10 per party and you can stay as long as you want. They have a website.
