Looking for the Right Baby Carrier

After doing my research, I'm fairly certain that I want an Ergo carrier, but I won't be able to use it for a couple of months even with the infant insert. So, I think a sling ring is the way to go with my newborn. But I'd really like to try it before I buy one. Does anyone know of a store that would let me try out different carries, so I can decide which one is best for us? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I buy tons of my baby stuff from GreenPlanetBaby.com, she's also got several kinds of baby carriers: http://www.greenplanetbaby.com/catalog.php?category=Babyw...

She has an online store, and you can also go to the store she runs out of her house to check things out for yourself. Shoot her an email to see if you can try on her available baby carriers. She's got great customer service. I highly recommend her. She's in Lumberton, NJ which I think is about an hour away from you.

QuirkyBaby is in Princeton, NJ I've not used them, but their website looks very promising: http://www.quirkybaby.com/pages/services.html

Not sure where you are, but if you're in Delaware Co, Family Birthmark has two stores -- Media and Newtown Square -- they're great about letting you try different slings. Good luck! (ps, I used a Moby Wrap, then moved on to the Ergo; my husband used the Ergo pretty much from when my son was about 1 month, but I found the Moby a little more simple to handle until I could use the Ergo without the insert).

I see you are in Flourtown...the Breastfeeding Resource Center in Glenside frequently has a class on baby wearing where you can try on different slings and carriers. I know they carry the Ergo. They have a little retail store, and you could probably go in and try some on anytime. Check out their website or give them a call. All earnings from their store support their very important mission as well, so I would encourage you to buy your Ergo from them.

I agree with the last post. I also loved the breastfeeding resource center's classes for both the info groups and support groups. I highly recommend them. I used the ergo with the insert and it worked fine when my son was a newborn and we would go for walks. When we were in the house I used a sling. I got the dr. sears one, a sling with the ring, which I loved. good luck.
