I am a childcare provider and I use craigslist, but I also use care.com. It's a great website to search for childcare--especially for bigger cities. You can also check out sittercity.com
:)
Not a response yet, so maybe if I re-word it will help.
Any suggestions on how to find great care? I always used craigslist, but my SIL is leary about it. This is her first child and she is moving from a small town to a LARGE city. Any tips I can pass on to her?
Thanks!
Krista - she is open to either a facility or in home, but it would be full time during the day.

My daughter is an actress and a nanny actually for a great family in Beverly Hills. She got her job through a nanny agency and has kept it of over 3 years... she loves her family. Google Nanny Agencies. She found hers in West Hollywood.
Is she looking for a sitter, in-home full time, more details would help!
When we started looking for childcare, we went to our state's Office of Child and Family Services website and started there. We found a list of licensed providers, as well as a listing of any recent citations- when, for what, and whether or not it was correct. Even better... we found a list of "look fors" and questions to ask as a starting point! It was really helpful.
Regardless of where she starts (online, word-of-mouth, Craigs List) make sure that she looks for a licensed and ewll-referenced provider!
You need to find a referral agency that does this for you. In my area there is one tribe that has a child care referral business. When I had openings I would call them to let them post it and then I would have several people call over the next few days. But most of my calls and kids came through the licensing agency. They are usually through the department of social services office. They will have all the inspections, the complaints, etc...on each licensed facility.
