Go cloth. www.nickisdiapers.com has lots of options. My son breaks out every time we go on a break from cloth and use disposables.
My son is 19 months old and I've tried a few brands when he was born. I loved huggies best because they were high cut on the sides which seemed way more comfortable than the pampers. I used them for a year and a half and loved them. They always were a great fit and barely ever leaked. Then a few months ago huggies changed the design of their diaper and the new cut leaves a whole bunch of fabric gathered on my sons hip which cause him to break out in a rash and red bumps on his hip. So we switched to luvs because they were high cut and had the stretch tabs. Now they must have changed the design. The cut is still great but they added this new fragrance and my son has broken out in a rash and terrible excema on the back of his thighs and lower back. So I just ran to the store and bought BJs brand but they don't have the stretch tabs. I am running out of choices. Anyone know of a good diaper that is high cut, has stretch tabs, and doesn't reek of perfume?

I am having this same issue with my daughter with the small rash / irritation on her hip because of where the diaper rubs. I am using Pampers Cruisers and have never had this problem before. So, I have switched recently to Seventh Generation (chlorine-free; perfume-free; unbleached). They fit a little different and are a little "stiffer" than the Pampers, but they seem to be helping.
Good luck! Let me know if you find something that works better.
We LOVE the Member's Mark brand at Sam's Club. Our twin boys have always had sensitive skin, so pampers weren't an option in our house (perfume gave them both rashes). Huggies were fine, but expensive. Luv's leaked. Then we tried Sam's brand and they are just right! Nice soft material, no leaks, stretchy tabs, and no perfume. And it helps that they're really affordable (about $32 for a box of 200 size 3).
Anita,
You can get generation green diapers at Publix or babies R us and there is no chlorine in them, frangrance free and stretch tabs. I also use a natural brand from Target. Same thing, frangrance free, stretch tabs, and no chlorine. We've had no problems with break outs since we switched.
Best to you, hope this helps,
T.
I know you were inquiring about disposables, but I cloth diapered and just want to put out there that it really isn't that hard. A brand my friends spoke highly of is Fuzzybunz. Supposedly they never irritate.
I'm a fan of Motherease as well.
Hi Anita,
I saw that a lot of people recommended cloth diapers. We own a cloth diaper service. We offer a good alternative for parents that want all the benefits of cloth but don't want the hassle of washing the diapers themselves. It will also help you if you want to take a break from disposbles and don't want the expensive of buying your own supplies. Feel free to message me privately or check our website http://diaper-duty.com
BumGenius Washable Diapers. LOVE them!! I didn't use washable diapers until my 3rd child. Why I didn't do it before, I don't know but they are great! My daughter has NEVER leaked through one and I think she thinks they're pretty comfy. You can order them on diapers.com and they usually ALWAYS have $10 orders over $50 and free shipping. You can also get them for cheaper on ebay....unused of course. Great for the enviroment....less waste and saves you money!
They have adjustable snaps so they fit newborn up to 40ish pounds. And they're stretchy and non smelly!
Cloth diapers are the best, and guess what? They are made from natural fibers. Cotton!! It's the best!! The money you will spend to by them and rubber pants to cover them will save you money in the long run. Hundreds of dollars saved wkly, mthly and yrly. I had diaper service, they do still exist. give a try if it is in the budget. Good luck!!!! Some old ways are the best ways.

Cloth diapers are your best bet. They let your child's skin breathe, no toxins, best for the environment, and least expensive. Motherease with a hemp liner was my favorite to use. I saved them and plan to use them for my next. I spent less than $150 for the entire time my daughter was in diapers. It takes the same amount of time and energy to dump the waste in the toilet and dump the diaper in special bucket and then dump in a washing machine as it does to dump it in the garbage and fill up a landfill. The gel in diapers which keeps a baby dry is toxic and presses right up against their genitals, that scares me.... There has been some research believing the gel has led to testicular cancer.
Good luck

I like the Kirklands brand from Costco. They work great and are less expensive than most brands.
I'm not sure about being high cut because I've never paid attention to that...
But if you don't want to do cloth diapering, which is probably best for a child who is irritated by regular diapers, I agree that you should look for a more natural, chlorine-free, fragrance-free diaper. We use Seventh Generation (available at Native Sun or Drugstore.com or Diapers.com) and Nature Baby Care from Target. I like Nature Baby Care for nighttime because it's very absorbent, but it's kind of thick and puffy for day...so we use the Seventh Generation during the day and at naptime.
I agree with Donita to try cloth, specifically BumGenius diapers. I switched to these one-size diapers when I had my second baby (I now have 2 in diapers). They both unfortunatly inherited my extremely sensitive skin & rash up at the slightest thing. Since I switched to cloth, we rarely have problems. These brand/type of diapers are very easy to use, even my husband likes them. If you are interested, you can look up the types of diapers or get more info at www.diaperpin.com, or you can contact with questions. Good luck!
I'm a huge fan of walgreen brand! the ones w/ the tabs like you mention and no perfume
they're in a white package and have red lettering- they run a bit small so size up...but I think huggies run small, too?
Hi Anita,
I used to go back and forth with Huggies and Pampers but I really didn't like either one but we were in Guam when my daughter was born so we had a minimum selection. After moving back to Florida I decided to give Publix brand diapers a chance... and I loved them! They are great fitting, they seem high cut to me and they don't leak as much as the other brands (for my baby at least) Oh and they have stretch tabs too =)
I'd give Publix a shot!

I would also vote for Kirland brand from Costco. Much cheaper and have had very few accidents. No smells either, never had a rash- not even a bad diaper rash!!!
We use organic diapers for the same reason....yucky bumps and rash being caused by pampers....they have different brands you can pick. I've found it's cheapest to get them online becuase they are pretty exspensive. My daugther is a little chunk and they fit her well, but the sides aren't as high as huggies. good luck!
