Looking for Sports Bra That Works

I was wondering if anyone knows of a high impact sports bra that works well for a woman with a D cup? I found some nice comfortable ones at Walmart that say high impact, but they just don't work well when I'm riding a horse! I heard Oprah talking about how she had to really search around to find a good sports bra that held her securely and she mentioned the one she finally found that did the trick, but I don't remember the brand name she gave. I was wondering if anyone knows or has any other suggestions.

I SO feel for you - before having my children I worked out 5-6 times a week - high impact aerobics classes and running. Before I found the Enell sports bra (was on Oprah's show a few years ago) I would wear 3 different bras for support - no matter what a company said they never held me as I felt they should. So, go to Enell.com - I think I paid around $50-60 but it is worth it. I don't have the time to work out as much as I used to, but I've had it for 5 years and works like it's brand new!

I'm a 34DD, rode hunter/jumpers competitively, and did a triathlon, so I understand both your need for a good bra, and your frustration. It's very hard to find good, supportive bras when you're larger sized.

Try Title Nine. They have a catalog, and a website www.titlenine.com. their bras are rated by barbells, and you can trust them. If it says 4-5 barbells, it should work. I particularly like the frog bra and the Ban-the-Bounce bra.

I am a D/DD and I have been wearing this one by Champion for the past 10 years. It is excellent:

It is currently on sale on the Champion website...or I often find them new on eBay or other lingerie sites.

Good luck!

I've always been very large (pre-pregnancy 34E and 36FF post) I LOVE my Anita brand sports bra (I think its the Anita Rosa Faia. I've been jogging lately and this bra has done the trick. I order most of my bras from figleaves.com. They have a great selection and easy returns which is nice. You can order a few sized and return what doesn't work.

I found an amazing sports bra that works and you only need to wear ONE. The twins is one of the reasons I never took up running... nothing would support them.

This bra is sold in homes only . I know a woman that would drive to your home in order to be fitted and if she has your size, you can try one on. This is the only sports bra I ever found that worked like I wanted it to

Write ____@____.com and put in the subject line
Need a sports bra. Give her your phone number and she will get back to you right away.

Check out Intimacy at Bloomingales, Michigan Avenue in Chicago. I know that Oprah shops there. Another place would Soma Intimates in Water Tower, Chicago.

As a fellow horse back rider and D cup the only one I ever found that worked was one by Danskin.
I could not find them in the stores locally here but found great deals on Ebay.
The danskin has underwire that comes around the breast in a big U, the under wire is plyable and the extra support comes from the criss cross style of the shoulder straps that force your shoulders in the proper position. They are slightly difficut to get on because they go over your head the arm thru the straps and the big hook in the back. Once on they are very comfortable. They aslo wick moisture away from the skin.
The writing on it states it is a Danskin Now.
I tried all the supposed expensive no bounce bras and sports bras and they only smashed your breats and were very uncomfortable to wear. The Danskin is confotable to wear all day.

My nieces are very bless in the mezzanine and they both end up wear to sports bras when they play sports at school. They say that wearing 2 works for them.
I personally have a Fruit of the Loom from Walmart and I like mine a lot. I need good support also and it works fine for me but then I am not riding horses.
you could also ask your doctor where the best selection can be found for your body.

Good Luck

Check out Title 9 Sports. It is a women's athletics catalog. They rate their bras with barbells, so you can choose a style you like along with the support you need. I use a Moving Comfort brand bra which I like. As noted by someone else, you will need to spend $40 - 60 in order to get a good bra. I had a hard time stomaching that, as I was a b cup before I had kids and could wear anything while I ran. Good Luck.

I like to wear two (one right over the other) b/c I don't like underwire in a sports bra - it tends to chafe at pressure points. I'm interested to see what others say here!

I bought a Champion brand high impact sports bra at Kohl's which was around $30.00 but well worth it! It is extremely comfortable & has an underwire in it. It is also quick dry which is great.

I was shopping for myself and remembered your post when I came across this: http://www.rei.com/outlet/product/792628

Looks like you have had some other good suggestions, but this looks like a good price if you are willing to take a chance. I second the Title Nine catalog too.

Good luck!

If you want an excellent sports bra, you are going to pay around $50-60 for one. I went to Oprah's store on 900 N. Michigan, called My Intimacy and got mine there, worth every penny. I sometimes just wear it to wear. I paid $60, but you get properly fitted and that is key. I use to wear two sports bras, but still would have bad shoulder pain when I work out (and I teach fitness classes too). Champion makes a great sports bra for bigger busted women, around $50.

Hope that helps.

I get mine from Championusa.com. They have one which has separate molded cups for each breast. From the outside it looks like the other sports bras, but on the inside you can see the difference.

Just my $0.02, Lululemon makes the BEST athletic clothing EVER. The sports bras are not only supportive, they have removable cups so there are no "turkey's done" moments. Their clothes comes with a 5 year guarantee! I own a gym in Lakemoor, so essentially I'm in spandex 6 days a week. My Nike, Champion and Reebok clothes fades, stretches out and looks old while my Lululemon clothes look brand new every time they come out of the dryer. It's expensive, but well worth it!

Hi L.,
I really found that Champion bras worked best for me. You have to pay for them, but I like the choices I get at the running stores. They are meant for high impact.
Good Luck,
