Looking for Something to Do with 4 Year Old and 1 Year Old

Hi, I live in Plantation Florida. I'm a stay at home mom with limited funds (who isn't?) and need some sort of entertainment for my kids during the day. I have a ridiculously high energy 4 year old and a 14 month old who is just learning to walk. Does anyone have suggestions for something they can both do that isn't expensive?

Thank you!

What can I do next?

Google free and cheap fun in your area. You may be surprised what you find. Around here there are several churches that have incredible indoor play scapes and most are free of charge or $1 per person. A few of our malls have free playgrounds too. There are also smaller museums that are inexpensive. Also check with recreation centers in your area. There are three rec centers near me that offer "free play" for $1 per child. Sometimes it's toys in a room, but one of the centers has basketball, mats and a bounce house. Don't forget to check out your local parks, they are always free.

-Parks
-Does your mall have an indoor play yard?
-Sometimes when I was desperate during the winter rainy months, I would
let my child walk around the mall or just Walgreen's so that they would
get tired out, have some activity/interaction & have a place to walk
around that was out of the rain.
-Library for reading time (your 4 yr old will enjoy it & you can keep your
14 mo old occupied
-How about an indoor gymanstics place?
-We have an outdoor mall (if your weather is nice) and I'd let your 4 yr old walk around, have lunch at home before you go, have your little one in a stroller, bring a few quarters for your 4 yr old to horse or what-have-you
there.
-Make a fort in your living room

I am in FL too and we can get outside year 'round! Take them to a park where the 4 year old can burn off lots of energy while you play with the toddler (blow bubbles etc). Invite a friend for the 4 yr old to play with. There is something about playing outdoors that is sooo good for kids. And it gives you a break too! Maybe the other mom will reciprocate!

Broward County parks are awesome . I'd take them to the local broward county park every day to run onthe play ground and have a blast. They always have little things going on. Also the beach has little squirt areas where the 4 year old can run through the water. Also inside the sawgrass mall they have that little jungle gym. The local burger king will have a little play area.

www.meetup.com put in your zip code and type in moms' groups, playgroups, toddlers, etc to find local moms' groups... they often do fun low-cost things and you can meet other moms and kids in the process

I am a member of the South Florida Playgroup. Check us out http://www.meetup.com/TheSouthFloridaPlaygroup/
Some of the moms live in Plantation as well & there are tons of meetups (parks, playgrounds, members' homes, etc) scheduled on the calendar! You & your kids will have fun & make new friends! Hope to see you soon!

Also, check out your local library for storytime fun! The free local South Florida Parenting Magazine will also have lots of info on what's going on around S. FL for you & your kids & some are free events as well...

Good luck!
