We are a family of four. We just had a new baby three months ago. I am trying to find somewhere FUN to go as a family that my seven year old would enjoy. Any suggestions besides six flags and any out door water parks? Thank you!

You received some GREAT ideas!! My favorite is the picnic! In today's world, we all don't take the time to get out as a family and enjoy each other! Board game night at home and having s'mores on the back porch with a small fire pit are two of our sons favorite things to go...12 and 13 and they ask to do those two things all the time! Incredible, Main Event and Mountasia are great, maybe Brunswick (Mon/Sat no smoking nights) for bowling is fun, an event with your local parks/recreation department (just go on your city web site), bike riding, sundae making night at home, flying a kite, Tornado Terry's if she likes video games, a bounce house place, Homestead Farms in Keller is going to do a pumpkin patch soon (www.homestead-farms.net)...enjoy and have FUN! I commend you for looking for affordable things to do as a family!!

Have you thought about Fossil Rim Wild Animal Park? (www.fossilrim.com). It is about an hour southwest of Fort Worth. It is one of our very favorite places to go. We went one year with my parents and 2 boys. My parents SUV had a moon roof and a giraffe stuck his huge head thru the roof and ate out of the bag sitting on my lap. The kids loved it! It is a little pricey ($21 per adult and $14 for kids 3-11), but certainly no more than going to six flags or even some museums. I can't recommend it more.

This may sound boring, but how about the Arboretum? You can save money by packing a picnic. And yes, I know it is super hot! We always make a day out of it in September/October. My kids love it! They enjoy running around in their spacious gardens. Also, check out children's museums.

How about a Cat's baseball game? very kid friendly. by the general admissions area on the third base line there is a small sand playground and a field the kids can run around in if for some reason they get restless. plus bounce houses they can do right there. very inexpensive compared to a rangers game. it's easy to get signatures from the baseball players. we just took my 5 year old and 18 month old and loved it.

We are a family of six and our children are 9,8,7,and 5. Try Dinosaur Valley and DinoWorld (I believe is what is called). Both are located in Glen Rose. May I suggest looking into a Dallas Zoo FAMILY pass. The pass allows you and your family to also get into locations for free or half price around Texas. I bought one from the SA Zoo for our fourth of July family trip. From July to August we did 3 zoos and the Corpus Christi Aqaurium for next to nothing. BEST THING I HAVE BOUGHT for my kiddos; wish I would have thought of it sooner.

Perhaps the children's museum at the Museum of Natire & Science. http://www.natureandscience.org/dcm/default.asp

It's inexpensive and has a lot of hands-on exhibits that would be perfect for 7 years old.

T.,

There are alot of things going on by the Stockyards in Fort Worth. Our grandson (9 yrs. old) and granddaughter (7 yrs. old) both enjoyed the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in FTW. Leaping Lizards on Grapevine Hwy., Let's Jump, NRH20 and Casa Manana are other fun places. We really enjoy Incrdible Pizza in Euless, also.

Hope you find something that you really like!
