Looking for Shoe Store for My 82-Year-old Mom

Does anyone know of a good place to take a woman in her 80's who has foot problems to buy shoes? The traditional department stores & shoe stores just don't seem to carry shoes for elderly feet. Any recommendations would be truly appreciated.

I would try Clarks. I have foot problems also and changing to wearing Clark shoes had made all of the difference My Physical Therapist recommended Clarks for me (due to foot problems) and to my daughter (due to knee problems). I do have to wear a size larger in Clark shoes. So she may have to try different sizes to see what fits more comfortable. Stonbrire Mall has a Clark's and at Allen Outlet mall they have an outlet store.
Good luck

there is a shoe store called SAS. All of my grandparents but there shoes there and my mother-in-law (who is not elderly but a nurse who is on her feet all day) also buys her shoes from there. They are kind of pricey but totally worth it!!!

Clarks stores have confortable and nice shoes. Sale persons are usually very helpful. They also order and ship (no shipping fee) to your home if they don't have the size or color you need.

I also recommend Foot Solutions, but they are more expensive than shoes in a department store. However, the quality and service are worth the price in my opinion.

SAS has wonderful shoes that support the older woman's foot. It is all my 72 year old mother will wear. There is a store at 75 and Parker in Plano. They are expensive, but one pair can last up to a two years.

My grandmother loved SAS shoes. She was diabetic and had many foot problems, and these were the most comfortable for her. I think there is an SAS store in Plano at Parker and 75.

Sears has some ortho. shoes. I don't think they are too expensive either. They also carry a good variety of easy to wear clothing at a bargain.

Try the SOS Factory...there is one in Lewisville off I35 down the strip from Toys R Us and across the interstate from Vista Ridge Mall.

My recommendation would be to try Clarks. My mother, who has bunions, loves them too. They make shoes with three or more fasteners on the foot, so you can adjust the width of the shoe in several places.

SAS or San Antonio Shoe store -- love them!!! The shoes are not fashionalbe really but they are built great!! I actually was turned on to them when a friend of mine said her mother in law loved them for her feet. I was suffering from a heel spur (saw it in an X-ray and everything) but after wearing those shoes, my spur no longer bothers me. Don't ask me how that happened. I did nothing else in that time. So I love them for that. Here is a location I know about in Plano:

301 W Parker Rd # 108
Plano, TX 75023

Good luck.

Foot Solutions has several locations around the metroplex. They will make custom orthodics for your mom and even analyze her gate to make proper recommendations.

After looking through the Dallas Morning News, i found two ads for a store. i thought of you and your request. so i thought i would send this on to you. It is a store off of Lovers Lane called Treat Your Feet. It is owned by a podiatrist. The ad states they do custom shoes so i am not for sure if they have prefab ones such as SAS. The store is at 5601 C West Lovers LN (as per the ad). Phone number ###-###-####. I hope this helps!! PS i am not associated with this store nor have i ever been there.
