Hi Moms I'm looking for a good and friendly pediatric dentist in Sacramento for my four year old son. We have gone to one in Folsom that we like, but it is so far. We would like a fun and kid focused atmosphere that has an office staff and Dr. that are great with kids.

Dr. Weidemen is great, but I will be taking my daughter to Drs. Rafferty and Ryan in Roseville. They are a mother and daughter team who are both excellent. Very timely for us too as I finally took my 3 year old in to the dentist. We went to Childrens Choice in Natomas and had a really good experience. They were patient with my son during x-rays and got through the cleaning, flossing and flouride really quickly. They have stickers, overhead screens at each chair with choice of movie, balloons, nice waiting room with stuff to play with and video, etc. We have to go back for some fillings so we'll see how that goes. I got the impression from the reception staff that you want to go with the main Dr. (Saladin or something similar) as he is quicker on the procedures. A lot of finding the right dentist will depend on where you live. There is another one in mid town that I saw in the local free parenting magazine that I was going to try if I didn't like Childrens Choice but I can't remember the name. A note about Dr. Wiedeman's office - I was initially going to try them also as their web site and office look cool but a friend went there and felt a bit like a number. Good luck.
Children's Choice in Natomas is great. Everyone on staff has been friendly and great with my son. They explain everything to the kids...and they watch movies while the work is being done. Then they get a balloon and a toy. It has been awesome.

This is a very timely question, as I just took my 2.5 year old son to his first dental appointment this morning. We went to the Make a Smile office in Elk Grove and I was very pleased with the whole experience. They had video games, toys and movies in a colorful and fun waiting room. The staff and dentist were all extremely patient and took all the time my son needed to be comfortable. They explained that they aim to get x-rays, cleaning and exam done at the first appointment, but this doesn't usually happen as they go by what the child will allow them to do. Well, they were so great that my son was able to have everything done in one visit. They were great and I highly recommend them. I can't remember the Dr.'s name, but there is only one in that practice. Good luck!
There is one in Citrus Heights that I take my kids too and they LOVE IT!! I went to the dad when I was a child and now the daughter has taken over. It's got a nice play area in the waiting room with a tv which always has some type of cartoon on and there are video games in the back for them to play with. It's a fish theme and they have a bubble wall and paintings on the ceiling and walls. There is a treasure chest that they get to pick a toy out of at the end of each visit which I still remember doing when I was kid... hehe
