Looking for Preschools in South Pasadena (Or Eagle Rock/Silverlake/Los Feliz)

I'm going to be moving to South Pasadena in a few months, and I only have a short time in LA to find a nursery school with space for my 4 year old for the fall. It needs to be full time, not a co-op that requires parents work there. A few personal recommendations -- where your child went, why they liked it -- would be so helpful, because this move is very intimidating!

you have to go check out Kid's Klub..its very secure..that's what drew me to it first...they have an after hours babysitting service for $8 an hour..so i u can't make it in time the little ones have dinner there and it starts to be $8 an hour starting at 6pm. Its on Raymond in South Pas. If u do decide to use that school can u tell them i referred u..i think then we would get a little off for that month. My son loves it..and asks if he can go more but right now i can only afford 2 afternoons a week..single mom..
but you have to check it out for sure. My son improved immediately after he began schooling there..he used to be a wild man..and now i can go out to dinner w/ him and he acts like a perfect gentleman! so yes i love that school!

Hi R., I have to agree with the last post. My son went to Celebration Kids when Sara and Michelle first opened it about 5 years back. Great experience there. Hoping to get my daughter there.

St.James on Fremont and Monterrey in South Pasadena was really popular with my MOMS Group.

My daughter goes to Eagle Rock Montessori, and she loves it. She was very shy when she started there, and they were very patient and they let her take things at her own pace. The other children are all very nice and affectionate as well. They are always lovely with one another. (Especially the girls)

They offer full service day care for an extra charge (drop off as early as 7:30, pick up as late as 6pm) There is no parent volunteering required. The only drawback I have found so far is they closed early for the holidays. (1:30 pm on friday) but it was only once, so it was easy to arrange. It is a little pricey, but for one year, it didn't seem so bad. Hope this helps.

Hi R.. We live in South Pasadena and our 2 toddler girls (ages 4.5 and 2.5) both attend Celebration Kids 1101 Arroyo Verde Road. Their number is ###-###-####. Website is celebrationkids.net. We love this school for several reasons. It's a full-time school, M-F, 7:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. They accept as early as 2 years old, which is when both my girls started. And at 2.5, they move to the "magic" room, the potty training room. My girls were potty trained within 2 weeks. The owners/directors (Sara and Michelle) are wonderful. They are involved (they know all the kids' names). We only take our daughters there M,W,F so you have the part-time optin. The teachers are also wonderful. At 4, they start pre-k and my daughter is now learning her letters among other things. They have summer programs when they take field trips to the park, to the zoo, etc. Good luck in your search!

When I moved to South Pasadena I visited several pre-schools with little luck, but I found Oneonta Montessori in Alhambra (which is not far from South Pasadena @ all, right next to target). My son was supposed to be there only for pre-school but he learned so much that I decided to leave him there. He ended up staying there till third grade and then I transfered him to Arroyo Vista Elementary in South Pas. I loved Oneonta because of it's small community, caring teachers, and montessori method applied to teaching. Every teacher knew my son and all grade levels knew each other. It was wonderful! Hope this helps you and that you find the right school for your children.

Happy Holidays,
FD
