Looking for Preschool Finicial Help

You can always try the Smyrna Head Start Program. The number is ###-###-####. Their website is mcheadstart.net. You can also try to get referrals of child care programs with financial assistance or sliding fee scales at the Rutherford County Dept. of Human Services office. It is located off of Old Fort Pkwy and their number is ###-###-####. I hope these referrals help. I am a single mom of a 4 year old and I know how tedious childcare can be. Be blessed.

The program is through the school system and free. If you would quailfy for free or reduced lunch or have other circumstances that would classify your child as "educationally at risk" or "underserved" you can qualify to enroll your child. Definitely worth checking out. I believe they also provide transportation. Good luck...I'm currently working on getting my son in speech therapy through the rutherford county schools. If the first person you contact isn't halpful just find another contact b/c I never heard back from the first speech therapist I contacted, but the 2nd has been extremely helpful.

I would just call any preschool that is in a church and ask them if they offer it and if they do not, do they know who you can call. Our preschool is Trinity Nursery Preschool on Jones Blvd and it is 2 days a week from 9a to 2p and it is $140/month. Not sure what your budget is. Our Director is really nice, if you want to call her and ask her if she knows of any that offer financial aid, I am sure she will help you. ###-###-#### Kim Taylor.

Also, if you work for a preschool you will get paid AND either your child goes free or you get a good discount. Not sure if you are looking for a p/t job or even want to work at all but this is another alternative. Some also give a discount if you are a member of their church. Lastly, if you are just looking for some social time for your child, there are mothers day outs and they are cheaper and less hours.

The Head Start Program is a great option. If you are a single mother and with a low income, you may qualify.
Look for Mid Cunberland Head Start. That is the program that covers all the surrender areas of Nashville. I work for it in Nashville and if you want more info, my phone# ###-###-#### ext 170.

Also DHS give some bouchers, depending on each one situation

The good news is that I read an article in my local paper last night that says Tennessee is ranked 3rd in providing the best child care in the nation. The other 2 are the Department of Defense and the District of Columbia. So we have some really good preschools in this state.

Forgot to add. When you go to the website and find a school click on the YES for financial assitance. It takes you to the government website and if you click on Financial Assistance there it will give you some information on how to apply and some eligibility tables.
