We are looking for an art or music class for this summer- my son will be 2. We were hoping for a Saturday class my husband can take him to Does anyone know of anything other than Gymboree? Thanks!
PS we live in the South Hills

Hi, Michelle,
I've taken my kids to Kindermusik classes and can recommend Miss Kathy in Mt. Lebanon and McMurray. Miss Michelle at Dance Academy by Lori on Washington Rd. in Mt. Lebanon is great, too, if she's not too busy doing only dance classes. Actually, my son, who was only 2 at the time, joined his 4-yr-old sister at her one-week music-dance-crafts camp there last summer and had a wonderful time. That's academyofdancebylori.com, and if you google kindermusik you'll be able to find contacts for people who teach it all around Pittsburgh.
Have you tried the YMCA? They always have lots of great programs!
We love Kindermusic, located in Mt. Lebanon and McMurray. There are classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary classes. My now 4.5 year old has been going since 19 months and I am going to start with my baby this summer. I've been so pleased with all she's learned. There are summer camps as well as once a week classes. Kathy Morrison, the teacher, is a terrific person and a great teacher. check out her website at www.kathysmusic.com.
My daughter and I did Music Together classes with Karen Sloneker in Regent Square. I know that there are also classes taught in Shadyside and maybe other places in the Pittsburgh area, I'm not sure. The website is http://www.musictogether.com, and they have a "class locator" page. I haven't done Kindermusik so I don't know for sure, but I think that Music Together is a fairly similar program, so you could consider doing whichever one is most convenient for you.
I can't think of the name of the church, but it is the huge church by South Hills Village (across the street from the big apartment complex). They have art classes there all year round. My aunt teaches one is the summer that is for children.
I'm not sure what area of town that you live in, but there are various programs. Kindermusic is in the North Hills, South hills, Beaver and Imperial - I'm sure they are elsewhere also. I just found a music class at the Sewickley YMCA - My Son will be 2 in April and I too have been looking for a music class, although we are out near the Airport and it is a bit more difficult to locate activities around here.
