Can anyone recommend an OB/GYN at Capital Women's Care? I would probably go to Silver Spring, Rockville or Bethesda location. Which location is best? I just found out I'm pregnant with my first child! :) So I'd like to make an appt asap!

Thanks!

I go to the Bethesda Capital Women's Care and LOVE them. My primary is Dr. Beckerman but Dr, Apgar delivered my son last February. I could not have been happier with the practice. Good luck!

I went to Capital Woman's Care in Rockville last year for my baby. They were awesome. I saw Dr. Meg Ryan and Dr. Gurdian. Dr. Gurdian was actually my primary Dr. and did an awesome job on my C-section. Good luck.

Hi R.!

A word of caution about Capital Women's Care. I heard from a friend who used to work there that some CWC practice are using Mirenas and Paragards imported from other countries. This means they are not FDA approved. This puts patients at risk because coming from other countries, the product's identity, purity, source, handling, and storage cannot be verified. Using these overseas pharmacies can risk receiving unsafe and ineffective counterfeits, even if they appear the same. And the physician can save hundreds of dollars on the non-FDA approved product, but charges you and your insurance the same price as a US FDA-approved product. Please be careful and ask to see the box and insert with ENGLISH language only. If you think you had an unapproved IUD inserted in the past five years, go back and talk to your doctor about a fda-approved replacement at no charge. I delivered with the practice on Lockwood Drive. My primary OB is Dr. Berger-Weiss, but Dr. Travers delivered my baby 6 months ago at Holy Cross and he was FABULOUS! He is really supportive and helpful and caring and knowledgeable and also was willing to help me go as natural as possible for as long as possible. I would do L&D again with him again in a heartbeat. Of course you don't always get that choice - and I did not love all of the docs in the practice as much as him, but I still go there and like the practice in general. The sonogram lady is great, too (just can't remember her name). It's also probably very convenient to you (which is great near the end when you are going to the office very frequently).

I work for CWC in Rockville (Key West office) Dr's Lakner, Elias, Grossman, Lee, Laurin & Wei. Fabulous Doc's! Dr Lakner delivered our daughter 16 months ago. But Dr Grossman is my primary OB/GYN for annual check ups and such.
And we delivered at Shady Grove since that is the geographical location that the Dr's use.
You'll be in good hands I'm sure. Congratulations to you!
I have worked there off and on for 4 years. :) I'm very happy there and I enjoy making the patient's happy as well! :)

Hi R.!! I went to Capital Women's Care for 11 years, even after I moved to Columbia- the Silver Spring location is where I went, and Dr Sine is my personal OB. She is EXCELLENT. I really enjoyed (if one can enjoy such things) my appointments with her- she listens well and has a great ability to remember details about your life and your health. When i had my daughter, it was Dr. Resta who delivered her, and I could not have asked for a better doctor. he was very laid-back, very soothing, and very confident. The practice overall is very in tune with what YOU want and expect out of your delivery, and they followed my wishes as far as they were able. I was very, very satisfied.

In Silver Spring, try Dr. Sine, Band, or Tyau. Sine is my favorite, and Tyau just delivered my baby a couple of months ago (also 1st baby). I really like the practice overall. Nice doctors and staff. If you don't like Holy Cross, don't use the SS location. I was fine, with the minor exception of one nurse, but she wasn't awful, just annoying. That can happen anywhere. I'm really sorry to hear that anyone had such a terrible experience.

My regular OBs are Drs. Gurdian, Spector and Ryan in the Rockville office and they are fantastic. I had a difficult pregnancy and they were incredibly attentive, clear and thorough. And they inspired a lot of confidence in my husband and I when things got rough. I ended up getting an emergency C with Dr. Renzi (a different CWC Rockville location), who was also fantastic. They all use Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, which became a kind of home away from home for me (hospital bedrest and 6 weeks in NICU). Every aspect of the hospital was great, especially considering what an emotional and physical mess I was for so long. My son is now very happy and healthy and I quite honestly thank all the docs at CWC in Rockville (in addition to a bunch in Silver Spring who were also consulted) and the folks in both L&D and the NICU at Shady Grove. By contrast, I was at Holy Cross for the first 24 hours after my water broke at 29 weeks (I live very close to HC) and they were, without exaggeration, the worst 24 hours of my life. Not even counting the fact that I was about to deliver nearly 3 months early, I was treated terribly (even left for 20 mins sitting in a pool of fluid as the L&D receptionist tried to figure out how to get my OB to fax something to her at 11pm on a friday night..I have endless stories of being left places, unattended for hours despite signs of a baby in distress, not being given my meds, etc. etc.). In the end Gurdian and Spector had me ambulanced to Shady Grove. I know that lots of people have great experiences at Holy Cross, and I know from personal experience that the Silver Spring CWC docs are great. But even though I now live in Silver Spring I'm sticking with the Rockville office and Shady Grove.
