Looking for Mom's Group in Edmonds, WA

I hear a lot about groups in Kirkland, such as the classes Evergreen Hospital has, but haven't found anything similiar around here. I'm primarily interested in an instructor led group where you learn more about the developmental stages, but a mommy meetup would be good too. Just something to allow my baby to be around other babies more often and a social outlet for me as well. My baby is now 10 months old, and we've attended some classes at Birth and Beyond, which are great, but that's quite a drive from Edmonds. Steven's hospital only had classes for those who birthed there, and we had a home birth.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I had looked at the EDCC co-op preschool (planning for when my daughter is older), but didn't know about the parent/tot classes. I'm in the process of enrolling with EDCC now, as that looks like the "education" type activity I was looking for most.

My husband and I are part of a PEPs group that we've enjoyed, but it meets only seldom now that the 12 weeks is up, so I was looking for something else to augment.

I only found an Edmonds Mom's Reading Group on FaceBook, and that didn't look like the one mentioned, but maybe we'll stroll down to the Park one Tuesday morning and meet the other mother's that way. I'll checkout the other suggestions as well. Thanks again everyone, this should keep my daughter and I out socializing and learning! :-D

Join the Edmonds moms facebook group, there's a group that meets I think every Tuesday around 10:30am at Hickman park,my friends Allison and Erin are part of it. And look up the FLED classes at Edmonds community college, there's an associated preschool program too and the teachers are great! Many of my longtime friends and their best friends met through fled.

They're now meeting either Monday or Tuesdays, this week was at City park, so I think they're trying to rotate parks. I sent you a PM to fb me and I can add you to the Edmonds Moms fb group! Glad you're joining EdCC and the Center for Families, you will love it! I'm next door M-W mornings in the coop preschool with my little one...

not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but the community college in Edmonds does have a infant/toddler program that you could enroll your child in. Here is the link http://www.edcc.edu/pared - then just click on the infant toddler link on the left. It does have a nominal fee but it would get you into the program if you are interested in doing cooperative preschool later on. My daughter didn't start until she was 3 but I know a few parents that had their children in the infant toddler program and they are still with the co-op program now that the kids are 4...

Good luck!

Meetup.com has dozens of local groups you can join. Just search by zipcode and interest. I get e-mails every week about new mom's groups in the area!

Also - the library has story times and there are lots of libraries in our area so you can almost attend one every day of the week!

There are MOPS groups - typically held at churches in the area.

Good luck!

As far as I know, you can still attend the "classes" at Steven's. I attended them 4 years ago and many of the ladies I met had not birthed there.... we still have our group intact from 4 years ago!!! :) There are MOPS groups at many churches. I think there are PEPS groups for after birth also, but there were none in my area (Everett), so I'm not too sure on that one. For social stuff: Stroller Strides and check in to the local library... there are free baby storytimes and possibly you will meet friends there. Good luck!
