My husband is looking into a job opportunity in N. Aurora. We would have to move, and were looking at Batavia. I don't know anyone who lives there, so can anyone tell me what Batavia is like? How are the schools? Are the people friendly, social and outgoing? What are th best neighborhoods? How's the real estate market there? What about other towns? Any info positive or negative is welcomed. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

We have lived in batavia for over 8 years now. I grew up in St. Charles, so we haven't moved out of this area. As far as Batavia goes, we absolutely love it. Its a great town and the schools are wonderful. My son just started full day kindergarten this year and loves it. I also have other family that lives in Batavia and go to their schools. THey are one of the highest ranked districts. I do prefer living on the West side because you have easy access to shopping, library, festivals, etc.

Hi Anne,

I live in St Charles, which is just north of Batavia. I love living in this area. The St Charles/Geneva/Batavia areas are great places to live. There is always so much to do here, and the schools are great in all 3 towns.

My husband and I are from the southside of Chicago ( very different from here), and I have to say we settled in just fine here more then 14 yrs ago. We are on our 2nd and final house here.

I can pass along a few real estate agents if you like. Just let me know.

I can't believe that nobody has responded to you. I live in Batavia and I think it is a great town! I think the housing market here is the same as everywhere else. When you are ready to look at houses think about the type of neighborhood you are looking for. My neighborhood is older and is a nice blend of different styles of houses and a mix of older and younger families, personally I like that. But you may be looking for a neighborhood with all newer houses and mainly younger families...you can find that too. I like Batavia because I think our location is close enough to allow fairly easy access to most anything in the Chicago area...yet far enough that you still have a small town atmosphere. Really, I think its a great town and you should check us out!
