Hello

I had planned on having my girls' birthday party at the YMCA but the date is taken and now I am wondering what to do for their combined birthday party (2 and 4 yrs old). I don't want it to cost an arm and a leg though.

Any suggestions? Please. :-)

What can I do next?

You can go to Cambrian Bowl, they have a party room. Might be too young for the 2 yr old though. There's also the Roundtable pizza with a private room and play area, the one on Camden. The Jungle or Chuck E. Cheese are also a few other suggestions. Good Luck! :) L

There is a place in Sunnyvale called Pump it up. I'm not sure of the cost but you can look it up online at www.pumpitupparty.com Also there is a place called "The Jungle" at westgate in Campbell.

It may seem a little generic, but I had my girls' birhtday party at Chuck E Cheese. One was turning 3 and one was turning 4 and we just had a joint party. We were able to have it during the week (in the early evening) and hardly anyone was there. The kids can pretty much just run around in the play area as it is nicely closed off. The front door in also closed off, and an employee checks each child and parent at the door for security purposes. The staff does everything--set up, serving food and cake and clean up. The kids even at this age love to play the token games. I booked it on line and was given extra tokens. All in all it was a fun day and the girls asked to have their next party there:) I think the total cost was under $200 for food (for parents too), drinks, cake, goodie bags and tokens. We went to the location at Kooser and Blossom Hill in San Jose but Ihear there is a new one in Cupertino on Stevens Creek.

Also, there are lots of nice city parks that have BBQ and play areas and you can reserve your tables. You have to provide all the set up, food and clean up-as well as arrange activities. You also have to worry about weather depending on the month of the party.

Anyway, I have been to many park parties for friends' children and they were lots of fun too.

Good Luck.

Hi Robin,

I was going to suggest Round Table as well, but there are two closer to Campbell. We went to a combined 3 and 5 year old birthday party last month at the one on Hamilton and San Tomas. They have the large back room where we set up pin the tail on the donkey at one end and did a pinata later in the evening. The party packages are very reasonable. They don't give reservations for the back room, but we've never had an issue claiming it when we get there on the early side of the dinner hour.

I've also held meetings at the new Round Table on Stevens Creek and Kiely. There are 5 different areas you can reserve in advance at that one and the play structure area is enclosed. The lighting is much better at this one, but it does tend to book in advance.

Themefest is in San Jose, but it's good for that age group & having fun with imagination. If you do the party on a weekday, the pricing is cheaper.

www.bayareakidfun.com has a whole list of party places and birthday ideas as well.

Check availability of the Round Table Pizza at Camden and Union. They have a play structure and a private back room which can be reserved for parties at little to no cost. The play structure area can get noisy, but the meeting room just behind it remains quiet and makes a great place for a party.

R.,

If you are willing to travel a bit, there is Happy Hollow Park and Zoo in San Jose. They have birthday packages, a petting zoo, and age appropriate rides for 2 and 4 year olds. A couple of years ago I did a "Stanley and his Great Big Book of Everything" party, but it would work for a Diego party now.

The Jungle is a great place. The party packs might be expensive, but if you get there early enough you can save a few tables instead of using their party rooms. That way your guests can pay individually (about $5 per kid - parents free). Then you can just reimburse them. Either that or wait at the door until they all get there. The best part, they have a separate area for kids under 5. :)
