I read a request similar to this before, but I cant find it. My husband and I are brainstorming creative/funny/interesting ways of telling news to the family and friends about pregnancy. What are some of your best ideas??

I read one once where someone took a picture frame and had a photo of the family and then put a card that said something along the lines of

picture frame $1
photo session $10
knowing there are really 4 people not just 3 in this photo Priceless.....

It just so happened that we told our family/friends at my husbands 40th bday party. We brought out a cake with one of our ultrasound pics on it and had them put C. Baby 2007 (at the time we didnt know sex) and let our parents open the box. It was hilarious to see their expression when they saw the cake!! Priceless!!

With my first child we had pictures to show the family so we put the ultra sound picture into the pile of pictures so when they looked through it the picture was there. It was funny to see my moms face because she wasn't sure at first what was going on. I assume it's your first baby. If not with my second pregnancy we had my daughter who was 3 at the time do a video on the cell phone (or you could do it on the computer)saying she was going to be a big sister. It was fun to see who would be the first people to call us. The people who didn't have either we just had her call and tell them. With my currant pregnancy though we didn't do as much since it was a surprise to find out I was pregnant and expecting twins. We just wanted to tell people. So the family we told and then I posted on facebook for friends. It was neat to see everyone"s response from that since my twins come just shy of my sons 1st b-day. And my son we had to use fertility to conceive him. Congrat's it's an exciting time.

Congrats!!!! Not sure if you have another child or not, but to announce I was pregnant with our 2nd, we dressed our daughter in a cute shirt that said Big Sis on it, took a picture and sent it to our families asking if they liked her new shirt. We called our parents and asked them to open the email while we were on the phone with them. It was fun to hear them figure out what they were actually seeing... :)

For my sister's first, it was around Christmas that she wanted to tell the family, so she bought us each a shirt that said "World's Greatest" grandma, grandpa and aunt and made us open those gifts at the same time. We were puzzled for like .02 seconds, then we all squealed with delight. It was really fun. Then we all wore the T-shirts to the hospital when the baby was born--we didn't even plan that, we just were each so excited to become an aunt, grandma, and grandpa. It made for really cute pics.

If your pregnant now, Christmas is probably too late, but maybe someone's birthday or anniversary is coming up?

Congratulations!!!!! :-)

Some things we did:

Had our son (or you can use a pet in this senario too) wear a "I'm the BIG Brother" t-shirt.

Had everyone pose for a picture. Instead of having them "say cheese" I say "Everyone say 'L.'s pregnant!'"
That was a hit after the inital shock wore off.

I've seen people also who have made a slide show of their wedding, life together, etc and then add "And now there's another little (last name) added to our family" with a picture of the first ultrasound. This one made my all out bawl my eyes out. I saw it done by a Nestie on the message board babies on the Brain. Soooo sweet.

Congrats on your new little one! happy and healthy 9 months to you :)

When I announced I was pregnant we were celebrating my moms birthday. So I inlcuded a baby bib in the gift and everyone figured it out. Also, my sister(when she told my mom) had my mom look through some photos and in there was an ultrasound pic. Congrats on the new baby!

Is this your first baby? When I was pregnant w/ my 2nd child, we had a t-shirt made for my older son that said "I'm going to be a big brother." He wore it to our family gatherings, and we just waited for someone to notice what his shirt said.

Hi, we are a bunch of gamblers in my family, so we took one of our Diamond cards and I typed on label for the name "future Soch" and gave it to my Mom - it was really neat to see her face!!! For the other side of the family, we bought Grandma, Grandpa and Auntie shirts and gave it to them...that was neat! I also love the idea of (if you have an older sibling) to wear a shirt that says I am the older brother/sister. Hey, you should just wear a shirt that has an arrow to your belly and see if someone notices it! ha!

Congrats, and best of luck...

We mailed "congratulations on your new grandchild" cards to the grandparents without telling them we were pregnant so they got the message in a surprise card! They were happy!

All of our family lives out of town, so to keep from having someone be upset for not being the 'first' to know we sent out cards to announce our first pregnancy. The cards were pastel in color and had the due date printed on the inside. I added some little baby confetti and mailed them all on the same day. Then, we waited to see who would call us first. It was hard not to tell, but it was so worth it to wait and have each family member call and tell us about getting the cards, what they were doing when they opened it, if they 'got' it right away and so on.
