I just found out I am pregnant for the first time. I would like to find a Tampa or Brandon OB/GYN that practices or at least is very familiar with alternative medicine. Any feedback or suggestions are much appreciated!

What can I do next?

Congrats on your pregnancy. What wonderful news and an great Mother's Day gift too.

I do not have an OB/GYN suggestion for you unfortunately know of someone who could give you that information, as well as help you have the most natural & drug-free / medical-intervention free pregnancy, labor, and delivery possible. Her name is Denby Beauchamp and she is a Hypnobirth instructor. Here is her contact information...

She helped me to have such a wonderful experience with my last pregnancy, and I wish that that same could have been said for my first.

Also, here is a link to the Hypnobirthin website.

Good luck.

Have you looked at Dr Ron Shemesh? He was located on Dale Mabry near Carrolwood in the shopping plaza by Abbies Health food. I don't know if he is still there or not. I have not gone to him however I know of his practice. I know he is a trained OB/GYN. I don't know however if he only practices Gyn now. He is Holistic however. Look at this site:

Best of luck to you!

I doubt you will find an OB/GYN who practices alternative medicine. You might want to look for a midwife (and maybe a doula) if you are committed to less medicalized prenatal care and birth. They are more likely to take a holistic approach (and a more collaborative one) than any MD. I don't have any recommendations, though, since I had my daughter in DC and my son with an OB.

Good luck, and congratulations!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I think your best bet is to find a certified nurse midwife to care for you throughout your pregnancy and delivery. They tend to have more of a holistic approach. There are some great midwives in this area. Gwen Burtch-White ARNP,CNM was fantastic as my midwife.
I'm not aware of any ob/gyn's that practice holistic medicine.
Good luck!!
