Does anyone out there have a digital camera that they just LOVE? Mine is now broken and they tell me it's not worth repairing. There are so many out there. There's too many options to choose from.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

A friend of mine just had the same question for me. Here's the email I sent to her:

Here is one of my favoritest resources for researching all things technology: http://reviews.cnet.com/Digital_cameras/2001-6501_7-0.htm.... I gave you the link for the digital camera page. You can narrow down your search by price, resolution (I'd recommend at least 5 megapixels or higher - that will get you plenty of resolution for prints up to 8x10, and is plenty big for putting pictures online). Cnet also offers buying advice (in the left hand column) and a step-by-step camera finder.

http://www.amazon.com is also a great resource for buying cameras. I like that they have reviews from actual users. You can also narrow down your search by price, sort by best-selling, etc. And you'll definitely find the best prices here when you're ready to buy. Also I'd suggest buying a either a 512 MB or a 1 GB card when you buy your camera. They usually come with a card, but the one it comes with won't hold many pictures. It's really just enough to get you started.

L., you might already know that stuff about the memory card, but I just thought I'd leave it in there.

Oh, one more website for you. I buy a lot of my technology items at http://www.tigerdirect.com. They have a store in Aurora/Naperville over by the Crate & Barrel outlet off of Route 59. Their prices are stellar! All the computer nerds shop there (including my husband and I). We just got a PC there. Anyway, they have great prices. It's kind of like a Costco for technology (warehouse-ey) only you don't have to be a member.

Good luck with your search!
L.

If you're interested, my husband has a company that does not charge a consulting fee at all and they will get the best price for your choice of technology equipment. For example, lets say you have no clue what model caters to your wants and needs he will discuss the options available with you (at no charge) and he'll get you that item that works best for you at a very discounted fee, brand new. His company contracts with all the big honchos in technology so he can get at cost prices for most things, ranging from computers, printers, dvd players, cameras, ink toner, memory cards, answering machines, you name it. If you are interested you can call him directly at ###-###-#### or I can give you his company's website info. His company is called Micah's Computing. You can get many refferals as well, if you want to find more about his business. Just tell him you're from mamasource.

I love my Sony Cyber-shot Digital Still Camera, I have a model they no longer sell, but it's a DSCH 8 I think - it has a 7.1 mega-pixel capability and has tons of features that will be able to be used in the future.
