I need some occasional child care for my 17-month old toddler in the Bedford area. All the places I've looked at so far have child to teacher ratios of around 6:1. Does anyone know of a daycare centre in this area that meets the American Academy of Pediatricians recommendations, i.e. 1 adult to 3 children for 15-30 month olds, or 1:4 for kids 15-30 months?

My son goes to a WONDERFUL Montessori school (full time) with a VERY low ratio. There are never more than 10-12 kids in his class at a time (some children go part-time) and there are 2 full time instructors (so, 1-5, or 1-6). He gets tons of individual attention.
Our school has a waiting list and is in FW, but I would suggest looking into other Montessori schools/private pre-schools. Most of the time, they're actually CHEAPER than day care centers.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions!
I don't believe any daycare or preschool could afford this as they would lose money at that ratio. You would have to go to a corporate or church sponsored center where they subsidize the tuition. Or maybe a very expensive private school where you pay extra for that low ratio.
You may want to look into a day home, where the mother is just staying at home with her child(ren) because she loves being there and wants a couple of playmates for her kid(s). I have seen a few mothers post requests for children to take care of on here. You may want to look into the posting history.
