I am looking for child care for my 9 month old. He has a nanny now but seems to really enjoy being with other children and exploring. We will need care 3 days per week. The facility (whether home care or a center) should offer a strong interactive toddler curriculum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We live in the Detroit area.

I am starting to provide care for children in my home in the near future. I have a two year old son (I am a single mother). We live in an upper flat in Dearborn Heights. I do not have any other children at the moment, but will not take on any more than three (four total including my son). I prefer little ones (three and under) but love children of all ages. I have run into so many dilhemas finding a safe place for my son to be during the day because he has such severe food allergies (milk, eggs and peanuts). Imagine a dozen 2 year olds eating their milk and cereal and then touching all the toys! It is just terrible for him. The centers can only do so much. I have a lot of experience watching numerous children at once, and love playing with them, and encouraging new ideas. My son is a super sweetie. Very mild-mannered and polite. I have found Tender Hearts Learning Center. Their toddlers teachers are the best. This is a Christian Center. All the staff is great and the center is the cleanest I have ever seen. This may be out of your way but it will be worth it.

The kindercare toddler program is wonderful!! My son is turning 2 and he paints, signs, goes outside, reads and does so much everyday. You may also want to check out Star of the Sea in Grosse Pointe.
