Hi all,
I have always had an interest in the fitness industry and used to be an aerobics instructor and I am looking to do a certification course in both yoga and pilates that is reputable and I could use internationally also. If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it. I would be available to do the course over a period of time. Thanks all......

As a former fitness and wellness mgr at at a major upscale health club in Chicago (I left after having my baby), Stott Pilates is one of the most reputable and thorough certifications out there, as well as Physical Mind Institute. Yoga Fit is a good yoga certifcation. The American Council on Exercise is also a great place to start (www.acefitness.org) and offers great group fitness and personal training certifications and does not require a degree in the field. I would be careful of your local studios that offer "their own" type of certification b/c the industry is changing and becoming more standardized (I know this first hand). You want a certification that is reputable and that will last you as long as you are teaching. Good luck, it is a fun industry to be a part of, flexibility and great for SAHM!
The two big aerboics certifications used in the Chicago area are AFAA and ACE. Both offer Yoga/Pilates certifications. If you google them, you can find their websites.
If you are looking for a non-intimidating yoga, go to www.yogafit.com. It is a GREAT company to train thru. it is more fitness based. They have trainings all the time. I have been thru countless workshops on step, bike, kickbox, etc, and have never got as much as I do out of the yogafit trainings.
Good luck!!!
I'm a personal trainer and 1/2 way through with my pilates certification. I'm getting certified out of a studio in Lincoln Park(Flow www.flowchicago.com) The certification itself is through Body Arts and Science International. There is a HUGE focus on biomechanics, anatomy and injury rehab/prevention. I'm not going to lie, it is very demanding and a ton of work, but rest assured you will know your stuff.
Check out flow and Body Arts and Science...Cindy Reid is the owner at Flow. Let me know if you have any questions...good luck!
