We had a party and everyone brought a white t-shirt and the kids decorated them. It was fun. We also got a pinata with strings. The kids pull the strings instead of hitting it with a stick.
This is my first time posting, so please bear with me.
My daughter will be 2 in May and we are throwing a party/bbq at the park. She loves bubbles and sidewalk chalk, so I plan to have those there for all of the kids to play, but I would like to plan a few games/activities/crafts that are age appropriate and won't take too long so they don't lose focus. I thought about decorating visors for party hats, and maybe playing pin the tail on the donkey. Children attending will range in age from under 1 through 4 (almost 5), but I would like the activities to be suitable for my daughter's age so she can participate. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks for all of the great advice. The party is not for another 3 weeks, but I have decided to keep it simple. Like many of you said, the park playground will be the big attraction/distraction. I bought frisbees, chalk, bubbles, squirt guns and decided pizza would be easier than BBQ. My daughter loves the park and I think it's going to be a fun b-day party.

For my daughter's birthday one year, I think she was turning 4, we had her bday at a park. I bought plain frosted cupcakes at Sam's and a bunch of sprinkles and stuff and let the kids decorate them. I didn't buy a cake that year, we used the cupcakes instead. The kids thought that was cool. We also did sidewalk chalk and a pinata. That was one of the best parties we've done.
Check out familyfun.com They product a magazine and the website has lots of similar activities, party ideas, etc. You'll have to judge for yourself if they are age appropriate, but they do offer tons of suggestions.
I know of a lady that dresses up in costumes (depending on what you choose) and comes to the party. She does little skits and everything to have fun with the kids! It seems like a lot of fun and she is extremely nice. Her website is here www.sillyshindigs.com
Hope that helps!
I second what someone already wrote - your party is set for you with the park! We had our daughter's 2nd birthday party at a park and it worked out great - the kids entertained themselves and we corraled them in for singing, cake and presents and then let them loose on the playground equipment again
Sounds like you got a good party on your hands.. The visors sound like fun.
They have the foam stickers that you wont have to use any glue for.
Welcome to mamasource!
Pin the tail on the donkey won't work for 2 year olds. Probably not even 3 year olds. For my son's 3rd birthday, I had it at my house and did "game stations." Pin the tail on the donkey was one of the games, and the kids just weren't interested. Even at age 3, they weren't able to completely focus and stay interested. For a 2 year old, I would recommend hiring entertainment (if your budget allows for it), and getting someone to sing children songs to the kids. Or, rent a bounce house. Otherwise, your chalk idea is good. Good luck!
I have always heard that the number of children that should atttend a b-party for a child should be the same number as the age of the child. For instance, if a child is five, five children should attend, etc. I found this helpful and that it kept the child from being overwhelmed with too many people and too much activity. Hope this helps.
Really they'll enjoy what you already have planned and running around the park. I don't know that I would add anything else. Pin the tail on the donkey may be too hard, but you could always try.
