There is a salon in Flossmoor called Doyle Designed that does African American hair...it is higher end and they do excellent work.
I need to find a local area salon or stylist for myself and my girls. I've gotten recommendations for stylists in Chicago from co-workers but I prefer someone closer to my home. I would like to be able to go to the same person/place for both braids and straight styles.

There is a salon on Torrence Ave. I don't remember the name but it's in the strip mall on the corner of 170th and Torrence. It is on the south west corner. I haven't been in that mall for a long time I'm not sure if it is still there. Good luck I hope it's still there for you. By the way welcome to Lansing.
Hi L.,
I had the same problem when I moved to Calumet City three years ago. I found Val's International Hair Salon and Day Spa in South Holland, just off of 159th and Woodlawn (162nd street in South Holland.) It is family owned and they do a great job on my hair. When my daughter gets "of age" to have her hair styled professionally, Val's is where I will take her. Val is an awesome stylist, and her daughter does incredible eyebrow arching. Good luck.

they have a website and are very friendly and experienced with "our" hair needs. They are right off of 159th street and the Bishop Ford.
Good Luck
