Hi Stacy,
there is a great park with train rides, it is in the Alamo Heights neighborhood, I think it is Breckenridge park. There is also a ZOO with a petting ZOO inside, in the same area.
Have a great trip!

We will be taking our toddler on vacation to San Antonio in the coming months. Our main destination is Sea World. I am wondering what other places in San Antonio(or in between DFW and San Antonio) might be fun for our toddler.
Also, I plan to contact AAA and San Antonio's Visitor's Bureau for travel information and discounts/coupons. However, do you know of any other places where I can find discount tickets/coupons for San Antonio locations?
Thank you.

The Children's Museum Downtown San Antonio is a MUST for that age! It's also near the RiverWalk and the Alamo. On the way is Landa Park in New Braunfels (about 2 - 5 miles off I-35) - it's a FUN and beautiful park for all ages (about 45 min. from San Antonio). We were just there in October last year with our 3 children and stayed 5 days - plan to spend lots of money :) You can find discount tickets for Sea World in the Dallas PassBook 2007.

I've been taken my boys to San Antonio almost every year for a weekend getaway. My son loves the Zoo, it's not terribly big and animals are not in cages like the Dallas Zoo. There is something they call "texan Safari" just before you get to San Antonio (close to San Marcos) where they have a train pulled by a jeep I think and you get to feed little animals. The have a blast in there, they also have a cavern and it was fun but not so sure you should do it with a little one. My oldest was three and some of the passages are tricky with a kid.
They also like the Market, where you can find mexican crafts, good mexican food and music.
Kids usually enjoy the river walk and the fluorescent gadgets the sell at night.
Have a great trip!. San Antonio is a lot of fun.

Hi S.,
San Antonio is great for the little ones! We took our 1 1/2 year old there last March and he had a blast. He loved strolling around the Riverwalk, so that's nice and FREE. The best thing we did was the zoo. They have a toddler area that has hands-on activities where they can pet animals, play in a mock grocery store and run around. In that area, there is a "river" where the kids can splash around on the sandy beach or even get wet. You'll want to pack her swim diaper for that. He had such a great time in that kids' area, he barely wanted to go and see the animals in the zoo. They have a bird cage where you can walk in and feed the birds, if your daughter wouldn't be too scared. THey also have slides and then just the sights of the animals.
We also stopped near the Natural Bridge Caverns. I can't remember the exact name, but it's some kind of drive through safari. I think it's called Natural Bridge something or another. You should be able to google it pretty easily. You can drive through and feed the animals.
HTH!
Their is a Childrens Museum in downtown San Antonio that our daughter really enjoyed. It has all kinds of pretend play areas(grocery store, airplane, farm, dentists office) puppet shows and a fun science center.
We just came back from Sea World. It is really a nice place for whole family. My son loves it. We drove our van and stopped in WACO and San Macos. There is a tourist information in San Macos and people work there will give you some good distination from there. Also, River Center in San Antonio is also our favorite. Just take a walk along it, you and your little one will enjoy it.
We went to visit Natural Bridge Cavern when our son was 2. It went very well. He was holding our hands the whole time.
